has anyone successfully gone off of a gpl-1

Is 1/8 of a bagel with cream cheese worth the bother?

How are you going to go off if you never learned the life skills that keep you healthy?

And you don't get that every body is different. Some people were born with different metabolism, or have other health issues that make it impossible to lose weight even dieting and exercise.

Just like when people go off WW or Jenny Craig or Atkins, if your body's set doubt is 120+X, it's going to try and get back there. Same for these new drugs.

And while that's easier for some than others, the meds have been great. We don't tell people who need glasses to just squint, or people with prosthetics to just use what they were given, so why are you so angry that these drugs are working for so many, helping them to avoid diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure and so much more?

Perhaps because it’s physically impossible to not lose weight through proper diet and exercise as demonstrated by the success of the medicine. People are just unable to control themselves and admit as much.

You're unable to control your nasty attitude on the internet, so maybe heal yourself before you swing at strangers?

What you don’t understand is that this drug makes it easier for us to eat a healthy diet and exercise. I have always been slim, but not without great effort. Every day was a battle against hunger to stay thin and resist my cravings. On this medication, I don’t feel like I have to fight anymore. Eating healthy is so easy now because I am not plagued by hunger and cravings for junk food.

If you have always been slim, how did you get prescribed this medication?

I stopped eating ultra processed food and I noticed that my food cravings and hunger in general decreased. I still count calories but my hunger level is less when I don’t eat ultra processed food. I am convinced that there are chemicals that stimulate appetite and hunger in processed food. I wish I knew this years ago. I have struggled with my weight for most of my life and I think this type of food drives hunger and overeating.

DP- what’s nasty? That’s literally what people say about the drug - it curbs food noises. They are saying they are better able to control myself.

From what I can tell, you don’t like it spelled it, but you don’t disagree with the substance.

Too bad for you that the loudest people on these threads seem to be normal weight people wanting to lose vanity weight.

I’m all for the people who meet the indication getting the drug, but they are much quieter than the self professed slim people who want to be even slimmer.

It’s possible that Americans have been dosed with appetite stimulating chemicals in the food supply to make them crave food, overeat and develop health problems diabetes. Similar to what the tobacco manufacturers did to cigarettes to make them more addictive.

This may be a result of greedy companies who are making money while Americans get fat and unhealthy.

Yes. I thought it was well-proven that the emulsifiers and preservatives in food have an effect on the stomach and intestinal lining, one of which is to mess with satiety signals. Huberman has covered this.

Volume eating + minimal processed foods help.

Truth. The food industry is already trying to figure out how to work around these meds.

Why are people taking this drug to lose 15-20 pounds? It seems so irresponsible for doctors to prescribe it for this reason. Also, who knows the long term side effects of these drugs. Is it worth the risk for vanity pounds that could likely be lost through diet changes?

Yes, this is old news though. It’s why tons of people can’t stop with 1 chip. The salty, savory, slight sweetness, crunch, etc is concocted to keep you eating

Except you have always been slim, so why are you being prescribed this drug? This drug is not likely to be some “harmless drug” long term, so taking it when not necessary it totally crazy.
