i'm just curious. I've been on a 2.5 dose for about a year. |
I'm wondering, too! How much weight did you lose on 2.5? I'm 12 weeks into tirzepatide and have been on 2.5 the whole time. 15.5 pounds down; maybe 3-5 more to go. About 20 BMI now. I absolutely love not being dominated by thoughts of food, feeling uncomfortable with hunger, wrestling with cravings. I would love to take this drug forever. |
I have not gone off of mine (I've been on Wegovy about a year) but think the answer is no.
I've seen some people claim to have not gained any weight back, but when you press them you find they have only been off for a few months. At one year, or even six months, most have gained -- many have gained a lot. My doctor said I'll be on it for life. I'm ok with that (even though this med has not been a walk in the park for me side effects wise). |
I have lost 50lb with Wegovy over about 18 months. I stopped in Jan when FEP had it change tiers. I have stayed same weight since my last dose, coming up on three months without. I definitely started eating smaller portions on it and for the first 12minths on it tracked my food in an app so I could see cals/protein etc. I think I have retrained myself but we will see! |
Craziness. You ladies are on it for life. Cause the alternative is diet and exercise, which is against your religion, I guess.
How are you going to go off if you never learned the life skills that keep you healthy? |
I am curious because I'm previous poster that doesn't eat much is in perimenopause. So if you have healthy habits, this must be changing my metabolic health. What happens when you take that away if you are already eating less, working out. |
Girl it's time to slow your roll. |
I wish those with eating disorders had their own subforum. |
I've been only getting it every other week for a couple months and holding steady/losing 1-2 lbs. in that time. So while I might not get off it altogether, I think I can slow the dosage down and maintain. |
What you don’t understand is that this drug makes it easier for us to eat a healthy diet and exercise. I have always been slim, but not without great effort. Every day was a battle against hunger to stay thin and resist my cravings. On this medication, I don’t feel like I have to fight anymore. Eating healthy is so easy now because I am not plagued by hunger and cravings for junk food. |
And this is why GLP-1S drive some people insane - to them, fat is a moral issue, and the only way to pay proper penance is suffering. Anything else is “cheating”. To them obesity is not a health issue, it’s a moral failing that must be atoned for. Needless to say, those people should be ignored. |
DP. The PP you are responding to is not fat, by her own account she’s slim. I’m against making disordered thinking fashionable. |
That isn’t a therapeutic dose. |
WSJ just posted a story about a writer who did successfully. Bottom line—takes a whole lifestyle (exercise and food) change. |
