“As for the day off on Monday, I had three different offers from friends to watch my kids or do rotating play dates. There is a real community there, but you have to be willing to actually engage with the community, and not just complain to the administration all the time about how much you hate the school.”
This is sanctimonious BS. I am extremely engaged in the school community. Have wonderful friends there, volunteer consistently, support the teachers. I’ve looked after countless friends of my kids on days when school is closed, despite having a full time job. There is only one family who has ever offered to watch my kids in return. This is likely because one of my kids has special needs. I fully support the desire to protest Trump’s immigration policies. Don’t use my kids, including my kid with an IEP, to do it. Informing parents at 12:30 on a Friday about a Monday closure is unprofessional and doesn’t meet the frankly low expectations I have for the school. When was this national day of observance announced? Because THAT is when parents should have been informed there would be no school. |
Are your friends immigrants? |
It’s entitled to expect your kid’s elementary school to stay open? lady that is literally the bare minimum requirement for a school. |
It's entitled to expect that a parent decides when the school opens and closes. That is the administration's call, and if you can't accept that, you are in fact entitled. |
wow what an absolutely insane way to put it. The SCHOOL created the schedule and then arbitrarily decided to close at the last minute. I don’t think we would be here if they decided to put an immigrants day off on the calendar in advance. We are taxpayers and pay for the school (that our children are legally compelled to attend). You seem to be confusing school with a donut shop or something. well if LAMB and its teachers want to get the same degree of respect as a donut shop then this is the way to to it. |
Gotta say I didn't have 'libs sending immigrants working two jobs scrambling for childcare as a way to show solidarity with immigrants' on my libs are nuts bingo card. |
Well you fail to see that this allowed the LAMB community to rally to support each other, so it all works out. |
Did it? Or did the LAMB community lose an instructional day? If this is LAMB's attitude towards instructional time, that explains a lot. |
Yes, two of them are! |
Jokes on you. I’m a dude. |
I assume this is sarcastic since the school is more divided than it has been since the pandemic. |
Yes it was sarcasm (although a PP actually said it sincerely earlier). And gee wonder why this divided the school similar to the pandemic? Whyever could that be?? |
So the teachers just...wanted an extra day off? |
Performative bullshit. |
I like how the protest is to do literally nothing except skip work. That'll show em. |
