The only legit reason is that you are out of town. It's your responsibility and if you can't do it yourself, you must ask someone else to do it. |
| Shovel them yourself |
With this last snow, it's too late if they didn't ask someone to do it right away. Everything turned to ice. |
I have enough tsk-tsking for both. Move the e-vehicles and shovel your walks. |
| I've got a corner lot, and it is a lot of work. Neighbors across the street do not even have a sidewalk. Seems like an unfair burden and everyone should help out. But yes, I always shovel. |
| In my Arlington neighborhood the only sheet of ice sidewalk and sloping drive belongs to the biggest house where they pay a company to install holiday lights. They just gun the SUV. |
Did someone make you buy that house? |
|
Look up how to report them to your city or county. They'll get a ticket (deservedly so). Keep reporting them until it melts or they take action.
I have no patience for these lazy selfish jerks. It's a resident's responsibility to make arrangements if they can't clear it themselves, due to disability or travel. I'm signed up to clear the sidewalks of several elderly neighborhoods, and don't mind doing so. But truthfully, it's usually jerk able-boded people who don't bother clearing or making arrangements. They're the same people that drive around with sheets of ice on their roof. |
You gonna sic the city on someone in hospice? You going to demand they ticket a woman with dementia who has no one to help her? You going to complain about someone who works 16 hours a day? There's a million reasons why someone might not shovel as quickly as you'd like them to. Save your outrage for something that isn't completely stupid. |
Some older folks bought their house many years ago when it was much cheaper and are on a fixed income. If you want to be a positive part of the community, go help them out rather than complaining. What is wrong with you? Because they don't jump when you say jump, they should move out? Since you are so rich, you move out. |
| For real. Rockville’s sidewalks are an ice rink these last couple of days. |
Why should someone else help out on your lot when its your house and you are capable? If you cannot, its one thing but just because you have a big lot, which you choose doesn't mean others should help. I'm glad we don't have a front sidewalk. We picked it on purpose. |
There is no must except since you are complaining, you are the one who MUST volunteer to help others. Lots of reasons why. |
I'm sorry, but were you forced to buy a corner house? Are you also 9 years old complaining about fairness in neighborhood orientation and your home buying choices? |
This is too funny, as I have a corner lot as well. I clear all my sidewalks with no complaints, but it's one of those things as a first-time homebuyer you don't think about. On the plus side, it gives me an "excuse" to get a snow blower which I love. Needless to say, if we remain in a cold weather location for our next house, I will select a nice mid-block house with a little postage-stamp sidewalk to shovel. |
