With TikTok down today, I predict that our teens will be happier and healthier today. Let's share our observations.

Same. I don’t let my teens drive either, it’s too dangerous. They are also still breastfeeding twice a day, for the antibodies.

Teens can’t drive without hours of lessons, instructions, safety discussions, and a test. There are also restrictions on driving, such as speed limits, you must wear your seatbelt, etc. What preparation did your teen go through before you handed them a phone so you could disengage and be free of parenting, and what restrictions did you put on screens? (Oh wait, you didn’t; you want your kids out of your face as much as possible.)

How old are your teens? What are their academic, extra curricular and social accomplishments? I will put mine up against yours all day long. They are phenomenal people.

What does this mean? Like, Snapstreaks? Prom-posal from the captain of the lacrosse team?

You know what it means. I said what I said.

No, I actually don’t know what a social accomplishment means.

+1 NP. Same. “Social accomplishment”? PP sounds insane.

You get a gold star every time you are invited to a party or a dance or a social event, and when you get five gold stars, you can get a free Personal Pan Pizza and a Pepsi at Pizza Hut.

I think the kids will be detoxing for a few days.

Mine doesn’t seem to care.

I did the same. My IQ jumped 25 points.
😂

I quit dcum for an entire year and haven’t been so happy and productive for a long time. I truly wish I hadn’t given in to the temptation to check it when I was feeling bored. Got sucked right back in and I know it wastes my time and destroys my mood.

Hmmm… time to quit again!

Neither do mine. It’s so frustrating to the haters that our kids aren’t rocking in the fetal position.

Weak. Driving is really dangerous. That’s why kids have to take classes and do hours and hours of supervised practice. Did you teach your kids to use the internet responsibly?

(Hint: no mom who reads/posts on this board is modeling responsible internet use to her kids. Heal thyself, woman!)

I’m just glad I can still get a gun easily and I appreciate the government saving me from the real threats in this country. I will be over here eating poisoned food and then heading to the gun store if anyone needs me.

What a complete joke this all is.

I’ve blocked it on my daughter’s iPhone but how do you block it on their laptops?!

This. Absolutely nothing has changed. Sorry to disappoint

Don’t worry, our teens are far less likely to get their driver’s license as compared to millennials, Gen X and boomers!

This. Weird mom.

OP here. I am concerned for our country's tweens/teens (not just my own). I am genuinely trying to help. I made a mistake by saying Twitter. I should have proof-read before hitting send. I apologize for my mistake.

I definitely have teens, and definitely have social media. My DH is on Twitter/X constantly (unfortunately), reading an absurd amount about political issues, which is a complete waste of time. And my DD in college posts on Instagram. (She has fortunately made her account private now that she's searching for internships.)

I can understand if my mistake (saying Twitter instead of TikTok) seemed odd, and I agree with you. But trust me, I'm just a mom who cares about the next generation. I don't post on Instagram, but I have an account. I post occasionally on Facebook. I spend too much time on social media myself, TBH. Fortunately I work full-time and so am busy 9-7, unlike teens.

Please pause before you call someone weird.

I think we’re discovering a lot of moms on here looking for what alternative they should provide their kids so that they can still be on the cool apps. My kids are still on the younger end (11 and 12) and don’t have social media.

Because they’re perfectly content sitting at home scrolling through idiotic videos for hours at a time.

Mine were never into it. In general, DD is much happier and healthier when outside for a long time and DS thrives when he’s making something with his hands. If your kid is going through withdrawal today, give them something else to do.
