With TikTok down today, I predict that our teens will be happier and healthier today. Let's share our observations.

Well, it was a good crash course in watching special interests manipulate the public!

Buckle up, kids!

Thousands of Americans rely on social media as their source of income-I have two friends who are influencers and the money they make is how they are able to stay home with their kids. Apparently TikTok pays per view whereas Instagram does not pay at all so one must rely on outside brand partnerships/affiliate links. Also, the government shouldn't be able to ban something for no reason. If you are against book banning, you should be against app banning.

The government isn’t banning for no reason. I’m sorry your friends would loose a source of income but it’s time to move away from TikTok. Equating banning TikTok with book banning shows your ignorance.

Agreed.

I can’t believe it’s not super apparent why Tik Tok is a security risk.

I mean both dems and republicans agreed that Tik Tok should be banned. That alone should say something.

And then they all bought shares of META.

get real

Exactly. As usual, the answer to all of your questions is money.

This. Weird mom.

Sure, some teens are depressed about a lost app but OP is the weird mom

Nobody confuses TikTok and Twitter except grandmas. They aren’t similar at all, and Twitter is X now anyway.

People mix up words. Don’t be a conspiracy nut

DD and I greatly enjoyed watching UDA College Nationals videos on TikTok yesterday and today! So happy it was all up and running again in time to see all the top performances. So exciting!

Tik tok is being censored now. It’s not the same and it’s so obvious and scary

Oh good grief. Do you not let your teens go out either? Lots of harm and danger in the outside world.

Instagram is worse. It just feeds FOMO.

DP. The potential harms in online cesspools like TikTok (among other apps) are more alarming to me than anything my kids will encounter in the physical world. But enjoy your little videos. I’m sure your kids will be fine.

No one I've talked to remembered this at all and I was wondering if I got stuck in a glitch in the matrix.

My kids are perfectly fine. They've learned how to balance social media with other aspects of their lives. They spend time with friends on weekends, excel as star athletes on their high school and travel teams, and consistently perform well academically. There are plenty of kids out there achieving this kind of balance, too. Please do not club all kids in one category. Just because your kids or you know kids who have an unhealthy relationship with social media, doesn't mean all kids do.

+1. And I’d say this applies to the majority of kids I know.
