Nursing home for undocumented friend

I'm guessing OP won't be back.

Probably thought there were going to be taxpayer-funded/free options available for her friend and is now disheartened to know there aren't.

Is there any factual, consolidated data of federal, state, local and non-profit resources which are used for the undocumented?

As PP noted, many of us have family members who we know need/will need assistance and cannot obtain it.

No you need to help her get back to her own country where they can help her.

She put herself in this situation.

I am here, reading. Looks like she is out of options. She can’t go back (long and sad story) Will she just die on the street if no one takes her in? So sad but yeah, taxpayers money, I hear you(OP)

What makes your think your kid will not be able to get Medicaid as an adult?

She has no one there and with her condition she will be completely disoriented. It would be a death sentence. But looks like staying here is one also. I appreciate everyone’s responses. And again, 100% fair. I just desperately want to help her.

Unfortunately with all the freebies given to illegal immigrants over the past four years (at least what we've been made aware of) people are running out of sympathy and I can't say I blame them. She needs to go back to her country, and yes, she can go back to her country. I have enough on my plate, as do many other Americans, just don't have the empathy in me any longer.

Send her to Canada, they have free assisted suicide. You're welcome.

She could always commit a serious crime and would then get shelter, food and basic medical care in the prison system.

And for those of you who think this is sarcasm, it's not. This may also be the only option for poor elderly Americans.

Op, if you desperately want to help her then take her in and take care of her yourself.

She has lived the US for the last 15 years. Is there any hope in finding her a nursing home facility in the DMV area? Are there any charitable organizations? TIA

No, I'm sorry.

I guess it's just hard- there aren't reasonably priced or ample spaces for residents who have worked their entire lives, paid taxes, and lived in the US for generations. if resources weren't so scarce and debilitatingly expensive for the people they were designed for, I would have more sympathy.

I don’t have the space or resources to provide 24/7 care

Joseph’s House, Christ House, and Little Sisters of the Poor in fact do this as part of their mission. You will need to find a religious institution operating a care home. In DC, the Department of Aging and Community Living can help—check website to reach the referral line.

What are the freebies?

Congratulations, folks, you found one decrepit old lady you can tell yourself you are superior to. Does that make your life finally feel not an utter failure?
