How do you feel about the public education system? |
I'm not completely sure what you're trying to say - but I think this apathetic reaction is a coping mechanism. He's not even in office yet. I'm sure some people will resist (or whatever word you want to use) once he actually does something egregious. Praying it won't be as bad as he suggested during the campaign. |
I hear you. My OP was not meant to be an FU. But rather an "I am tired and I refuse to get drawn into the chaos." |
Humans are by nature self-protective. If you are demonized for caring and told that you are arrogant and condescending and hateful for doing so and then you are definitively told that your care is not needed or valued, it would be insanity to keep trying. Most of us are not insane. We’ve been told the body politic wants Trump and his cruelty and destruction. So ok. I’m not going out on the heath to yell Lear-like at the gods. Got to take care of yourself and your family now. |
DP - I didn't read it as an FU. But its because I'm on the same headspace as you. I mentioned above that I think this apathy is a coping mechanism. We'll see how that evolves once he's actually in office. |
Yes but it is just so rich that once again it's the Dems being chided as cruel - because we are accepting that the person who the majority voted into office is probably going to do the terrible things he's promised to do. I guess I no longer feel like I need to be the adult in the room for this. People should prepare however they feel best - and are best - able to do so. Dems were decisively voted out. We don't have the power - and that also means we don't have the responsibility. What you are perceiving as cruelty is us coming to grips with our loss - and our lack of power to make things better. I'll donate to groups that are helping. But I just refuse, refuse, to spend the next four years in resistance mode. I can't do it again. People chose this. They chose it. And now it's going to be bad. And marching and being upset again isn't going to help. |
I would recommend buying a MAGA hat. |
Why, because she voted for what she believes is the best choice, even if it’s not perfect? |
I don't think it helped the first time except to make us feel we were putting our voice out there. |
The appeasement begins. |
I appreciate what you wrote. I feel similarly to op, with one difference: I'll be detached from the upset and outrage because I remember how protesters were treated the first time. I am concerned for any person or large groups who protest against anything he does. I believe the federal response will be swift and violent. My teens, and most of their friends, are completely uninterested in current politics and I am so relieved. |
I just hope he doesn't start a war with Russia. we can survive everything else. |
Because they were not driven by reason. There are no rational reasons to vote for Trump. |
Exactly. |
