Let it all burn. |
But that's OP's point - we aren't having meltdowns. We're over it. |
+1 It's weird how many people I know and talk to are all in this same space. It must be some innate thing to our psychology for it to happen in this widespread way. My friends and family who belong to more vulnerable groups are not in this mental space. And some other people I know - mostly online - are in the full on panic space, doing things like moving their money out of American banks in case Project 2025 takes away the FDIC and/or women's rights to hold their own accounts. But most people I know, including myself, are not having meltdowns. We're tired and if you want to touch the stove, touch the stove. |
But it he says it enough, and claps his hands, maybe it will be true. They were promised this! |
agree completely - everyone I have talked to feels the same. we do have a couple reasons to worry (fed jobs?) and we are naturalized citizens (and I've heard that may be targeted but we'll deal with whatever we have to). I refuse to spend four more years of my life upset. life is too short. |
This. I am no longer going to be the protector. You want to run with scissors, do it. I won't stop you. Republicans are like a toddler wanting a knife, to touch the stove, to drink bleach, to jump off the roof. Ok. have at it. I really don't care. No hysteria that kids are jumping off houses. No worry about scissors in the eye. Do you man. |

Okay. |
I’m Latina. I voted for Harris (as did most Latinas). So did all of my close (Latina) friends. It’s wild to see all these white people lump us all together and go “well you it’s your fault, you asked for it.”
Aside from black women, I don’t think any demographic can point fingers right now. And what about LGBTAQ folks? Did they have it coming as well? If you all want to be indifferent, then have at it. I’m tired as well. But your anger and resentment are displaced. |
*misplaced |
If you voted for Harris we aren't saying its your fault. |
But unfortunately it is the fault of every marginalized group that didn't overwhelmingly come out and vote for Dems. Your right. It is not just Latinos. It is a whole bunch of folks about to get to the FO portion of this show pretty quickly. Unfortunately, Dems have been demonized so much, many of us were told to stop being a savior, stop being weak, stop listening to every sob story and fringe group. Ok. I'm over it. Lets move on. Some of us will be doing that here in America and others won't be? Sucks, but what the hell did people expect? |
This is partially but only partially where I’m at, too. Tipping me to that - a poster upthread snotted “Sorry?” at someone who noted that not all vulnerable people abandoned Harris, and that s/be voted for Harris. That “Sorry?” is this thread boiled down to a word. The PP who tried to convince lots of family members to be sane and yet they voted for Trump - I am really sorry. I think I get how crazy-making it is to actually sit down with someone you care about and plead for them to look at something dispassionately. This all sucks. My family is going to suffer. None of us were ever gonna abandon the Dem nominee. The fact is that plenty of vulnerable people did not support Trump on any level. It makes me still emotional even if there’s no point to see person after person here say they’re preemptively going to shrug at another Muslim ban, as if literally every MENA person voted for him or abstained. It’s just not true. It’s such an ugly posture to take. I know this won’t change minds but I wish people would stop doing these sorts of fk yous. The internet is real life, right? If you respond to things and say the cruelest sht imaginable doesn’t that speak to who you are, too? That’s not the same behavior as just being disengaged. You can go on sabbatical without hitting the leopard ate my face meme on every thread here til January 2029. |
It’s not about a particular group. America voted for this. Almost all US counties shifted towards Trump, even urban ones. America has spoken and this is what they want. No need to do anything about it. |
Trump said the cruelest sht imaginable every day. Democrats did not. Trump won. America wants this. |
