No thanks don’t plan to be part of the silent majority. Actually, last time my sister-in-law explained to my aunts, what a late term abortion is, and that children are not killed outside the womb after they’re born healthy. They didn’t know that ending an ectopic pregnancy was considered an abortion. They just thought that was considered healthcare and we explained that no now it’s considered an abortion under the new laws. She explained all the different types of problems. A baby could have in the womb that could make it impossible for them to live outside the womb, and that sometimes ending the pregnancy was better for everybody involved than having a deformed baby continue to grow in your belly. They were very surprised to hear this. It was nice to see them finally hear the truth. Also, when they realize that the anti-gay movement uses Leviticus to prove their point and also you’re not supposed to eat shrimp they realized you’re right that doesn’t make sense. And then we pointed out that Jesus never said anything about that except for her to love your neighbor, and they were open to that. |
What you say about abortion is science, not religion. Regarding your whole post, It really is too bad that people are so ignorant. |
Not to religious people, it's religion. They go to church and are told these lies over and over and over for decades. |
would be nice if it were true IRL. |
| I’m actually fed up with being nice and polite and trying to accommodate other’s opinions or beliefs, people who have no qualms spewing hateful speech while professing being Christians. |
|
why spend time engaging like this? aren't you doing exactly what you are trying to let them know they are doing?
Luke 6:31: "Treat others just as you want to be treated" James 2: "My brothers and sisters, you are believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ. So treat everyone the same" John 15:12-13: "My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends |
What gets me is the hypocrisy. I can even understand that someone considers an elective abortion wrong, but I have a problem with people who have no issue if it affects themselves, are all in on the death penalty, are against granting asylum, etc. |
| Get yourself into a Bible-believing church and a related Bible study. Live your truth. |
Oh, but I treat them like I want to be treated, that is, engage in a reasoned discourse. I also want to be told if I’m hypocritical or don’t have facts or say something that’s rude or hurtful |
This. Why even bother and why even see them? Do they just spew hatred all of the time? |
|
If you really care about a Christian approach to the issue that matches what I assume are your politics, I recommend this book: https://worldrelief.org/welcoming-the-stranger/
If you're just looking to throw Bible passages at people, well then I just don't know what to tell you other than that's not effective. |
Just let the immigrants die ... no compassion but they are "pro life"... sure you are. SMFH |
Not to mention if PP thinks serious Christians haven't already noticed the apparent contradictions and done the work to create reams and reams of systematic theology dealing with it over the millenia people have been studying the Bible...I don't know what to say. It's as if to DCUM the entire discipline of theology doesn't exist, divinity schools don't exist, and people can't possibly use their intelligence on their faith. |
Oh come on, there are plenty of consistent pro-life people out there who are against elective abortions except in certain cases, against the death penalty, for compassionate immigration strategies, do real work to help real people even at cost to themselves, and more. I know because I know many. Most of them are too busy doing good to be public figures, but if you're looking for a name as an example try Leah Libresco Sargent. |
If your family are only attending church on Christmas will they even know you're quoting the Bible at them? |
