Came on to say this. Jesus said the Good Samaritan, a foreigner, was a better person than the very religious folks who passed an injured man by. |
Don't need to. Reread. I have described the behavior I have seen and been on the receiving end of from Trump supporters. I have listened to his speeches. I've read things his supporters say. They don't admit any errors even when presented with evidence to refute what they say. Please explain how any of what I said is incorrect or hateful. It merely is. |

Jesus had nothing to say about abortion or homosexuality - the two obsessions of the Christian right. That gives us some idea how irrelevant Jesus considered them to be compared to other moral imperatives to help the poor and vulnerable .
The Bible has many verses that discuss social justice, including: Isaiah 1:17 Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.” – Psalm 82:3 "Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed" Psalm 106:3 "Blessed are those who act justly, who always do what is right" Proverbs 31:8-9 "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy" Proverbs 28:27 "Those who give to the poor will lack nothing, but those who close their eyes to them receive many curses" Micah 6:8 "He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly, and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God" Isaiah 1:16-17 "Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean; remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes; cease to do evil, learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression" Zechariah 7:8-10 "Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another. Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the foreigner or the poor. Do not plot evil against each other" Isaiah 58:6–10 "To loose the fetters of wickedness, to undo the bands of the yoke," "to let the oppressed go free," "to give your bread to the hungry" Amos 5:24 "Let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream" Proverbs 14:31 "Whoever oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God" 1 John 3:17–18 "Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth" “He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing.” – Deuteronomy 10:18 Mathew 12:31-40 The Sheep and the Goats (God’s sheep are the ones who help the poor, those in jail, the sick and foreigners) 31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. 34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ 37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ 40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ |
I'm not a Biblical scholar, but it seems like that Bible has a verse for everything, if you are looking to the Bible to explain things. |
+1000000 worse is the don't even see it! |
+1. You need a different battle tactic if you are not a bible person. |
| The Book was never meant to be used one line at a time. |
Both old and new testaments have heavy emphasis on social justice and golden rule. While I don’t think the Bible should be interpreted literally I do think the heavy emphasis on social justice (while Jesus had nothing to say about homosexuality or abortion) gives us an idea of divine priorities. Every major world religion and many indigenous cosmologies have some version of the Golden Rule. This suggests to me that treating others the way you would like to be treated represents a transcendent moral code. |
OP are you ignorant? If people are here illegally why would they get to stay? ALL other countries don't allow this why should we? This is basic law and common sense. If they would like to use the proper channels to come back then fine. You can't steal, eat the steak and stay at the table there has to be consequences like ALL other countries have. I don't understand why this concept is hard to grasp for you. Perhaps you should over stay in any other country. Even canada go over stay there see what happens. |
