I am against all the busing from some areas like Kensington to places like BCC or WJ. Why can't people use their neighborhood schools?

There is a .5 mile difference between my house and Einstein vs WJ.

A home in the center of the Kensington-Parkwood ES catchment area (excluding the Tuckerman island) is 1.5 miles from Einstein and 3 miles from Walter Johnson. It's really unfair those kids have to travel so far when they have another high school that is so close by.

Yes, those poor children don't go to their neighborhood school. It's shocking.

Oh honey, these are children of rich parents, the oppor ones live on the other side of the tracks (literally).

WJ doesn't have special standing above any other school within the study. They will look at all the numbers and projections for all of the schools and make a decision based on what best advances the factors.

It is the closest school, it will pull from them first, then surrounding areas.

I think PP means the White kids should get what they want and the Brown kids should get whatever is left over.

In terms of the eventual Woodward walk zone, yes. But for the bus riders, it's anyone's guess.

My kid (W pyramid) was offered TKPK middle magnet. We declined. Not anywhere close to worth it for the travel. And yes, we know kids in that magnet, we know what they get from it. Still not worth it.

Why? Spoiler alert. Bussing kids all over the county costs money. Money that could be better spent improving all schools, benefitting all kids.
Did you think the buses, drivers, gas were all free? That the administrators who run the admissions were volunteers?
