Thoughts on this 10 million plus McLean house?

Too brown for my taste but it looks like a lot of care and money was put into planning and building it.

That downstairs is going to be extremely noisy…

It is. I live in the neighborhood. The house they tore down was actually nice, just older.

HATE IT. All that brown stipe wooden ceiling and walls. Ugh! I cannot imagine living there. Such a terribly gray, unhappy, and uncomfortable looking house. Yuck.

Agree. Doesn’t have a good vibe.

I used to live in that area. Like the other posters have said, traffic is terrible there. Aside from rush hour, from Black Friday to New Year's it will be even worse. Tyson's Corner mall and all that new Capital One stuff is right there.

Cheap cheap cheap fixtures!!

The lighting they picked look "disco" and don't match the theme of the rest of the house.

Dulany is a cut through for Balls Hill. With the beltway construction, it’s like living on a major road.

I would invest in good blinds with that many windows and that much traffic.

I hate all of that wood paneling? Everywhere.

Sold for list price, wonder who the buyer is

A republican.

I only see 5 photos and the house is rather ugly IMHO, and I actually like modern style, this this is not attractive at all or interesting. The older home seems to have more charm. How much is 1 acre nowadays in mcLean? This is awfully overpriced and I cannot imagine it cost 4-5 mil to build. Someone here said the land cost was 1.7mil several years ago, I suppose it must be 3 mil now? But that doesn't sound right unless this specific part is some very special enclave. You can still buy old houses in mcLean with .5 acre lots for under 1.5 mil.

Looks like the pictures are taken down on the listing but you can still them on Artisans website. A good lot that's 1 acre in McLean is starting closer to 2 million and up. I agree it's probably cost somewhere between 4-5 million to build so the builder must have made a very nice profit.

It sounds sketchy the people would buy at this price knowing they could buy a lot and hire a builder to do the same thing saving 3-4 mil or more in the process.. Something else must be going on here. House doesn't look that elaborate to warrant the price and 1 acre isn't an estate exactly. Plus it's close to a cut-through commuter road

there are no more photos, so to me it looks like an ugly brown box construction that's definitely not going to cost many millions to build. They build modern boxy homes for 1/3 of it with slightly less sq. footage. They don't sell for more than 4 mil unless these are on 2 acre lots in certain wealthy enclave communities. Maybe this is one of them, but looking at google maps doesn't look this way. I am trying to understand the "mystery" here
