Really? No reason occurs to you at all? |
The kids would definitely hate it as much, parents would be uncomfortable but I’ll grant you they’d probably be less worried about a sex crime |
| Is this what is known as "concern trolling? |
Not really. |
What kind of trolling is it then? |
Op here I get that it seems so weird/ unlikely and touches on hot button issues so I understand it might seem like a troll post-fair enough. It is true, though, and as I said in my first post this is not an anti all gender housing post-if anything it’s an anti mixed age housing post. |
Read The Grace Mann case. she was from Vienna and shared a home at UMW with 2 other girls and this 30yo guy. They thought hr was creepy from the beginning. And He snapped and murdered her one day. The rumor was that she was gay and rejected him, but I think it came out that he had mental health issues.

So age discrimination is ok? I totally get where you are coming from, OP and would not want my daughter in the same dorm as a 37 year old man. But when you opt for gender inclusive housing, you lose control on who defines what inclusive means and are stuck in the position of being age exclusive. How uncomfortable is your daughter? Tell her to stand up for herself here. |
Just send an email to the housing authorities. CC everyone. What's confusing for the college is that, hey, we have this 37 year old male freshman. And hey, we have this suite that needs someone. And they have indicated they are great with transgender, non-binary, unusual students. This is where they are going to put this puzzle piece. Let them know that, all things considered, they are teenage girls after all and really aren't comfortable with this. |
Agreed. This is chilling. I was a 17 year old college freshman and there’s no way my parents would have allowed this living situation. |
No. What if they start a relationship. Nip this in the bud. |

My kid attends a large state school, and this type of age range isn't allowed. Is the housing in question really part of the school? I ask because our state school has housing that is on campus yet run by independent companies. |

This is a very strange situation that I imagine would allow the child to very easily get a room switch.
I'm surprised that it happened in the first place; at DC's school, non-traditional students over 25 are given subsidized off-campus housing. |
