Sure Northeastern's 'school spirit' can't be compared to schools like ND, but better thing about Northeastern is that you get little bit of everything in a diverse environment at one of the best locations.

This is the whitest group of men I've seen in a Looooong Time.

Imagine Tufts and BC

NP. Among these schools, the differences are primarily in numbers of Asians and internationals. Fall 2022 from IPEDS:

Northeastern: 19% Asian, 5% black, 11% Hispanic, 42% white, 14% international
BU: 19% Asian, 5% black, 10% Hispanic, 33% white, 23% international
BC: 11% Asian, 5% black, 11% Hispanic, 58% white, 9% international
Tufts: 10% Asian, 6% black, 10% Hispanic, 44% white, 12% international

23% international at BU
WTF 1 out of 4 students is an international student WTF

NEU has ice hockey and both men and women won the beanpot last year (local ice hockey competition, Harvard, BC, BU and NEU). There's plenty of school spirit

how often do you see alumni wearing anything north eastern? If there's spirit, it sure doesn't last long

If NEU had real school spirit, its endowment would be the size of BC’s via alumni giving. It definitely is not a spirited school.

The whole coop thing just does not lend itself to big school spirit. I think it's a bit self-selecting in that regard - you don't go there if you're looking for it

My late ex-boss was an NEU co op alumnus. When he sold his company, development was all over him for a chair, etc. Never gave a dime.

DC thinks they want a school with a lot of school spirit and a fun and social energy but with kids who also take academics seriously. Would love thoughts from parents with kids at one of these.

Wow. You almost don’t have to visit: BC is ED1.

The other schools don’t fit. Visit Holy Cross instead — very good for Econ and Math, not far from Boston, and fits your description nicely. That’s your ED2. You’re welcome.

With BC and Holy Cross as your ED1 and ED2, better make sure you run the net price calculator, because both of them are gonna cost ya.

As opposed to the likes of Tufts? Come on.

I think the point is that with ED, you're "committing" to a school w/o seeing an FA package.

DP. Use their Net Price Calculators. With ED, you're committing based on that estimate.

Good point!
We all know that Northeastern is relatively a late bloomer, so while it's below Tufts #39, BU #29, and BC #25, it's already climbed to #51 in endowment among all private US schools.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_colleges_and_universities_in_the_United_States_by_endowment

Look at the change column for the last 1, 5, 10 years.
Northeastern is +24.7%, +100.0%, +169.6%
Compare it to others. It's amazing.
If you use endowment as a proxy for school spirit, its school spirit is astonishing

Students interested in a big coop experience are not the same looking for big school spirit.

For econ, academically I would rank them Tufts > BC > BU > Northeastern. Tufts has a quantitative econ major. I think its a great school.
However, Tufts doesn't have much school spirit.

Everyone has big interest in internships these days.
Coop program is just an additional service making it little easier.

Coop is different from internships. Coops do not lend well to school spirit. Other schools have more spirit. It’s silly to press on this issue.

BC’s Econ w/ Finance minor is good. BC’s finance is probably to top program of any of these schools.

I think it has more school spirit than Tufts and also BU which has 1/4 international students which do not lend well to school spirit.
