Trying to compare Boston Colleges for DC

Northeastern is probably top 3-5 in terms of location.
I would say #2 after #1 NYU.

Niche put BU after NYU, but I think Northeastern is #2 especially with the real campus.
(neglecting Emmanuel College they put as #1)

Northeastern has very diverse and dynamic student body compared to Tufts or BC.
In reality, most of the students(70-80%) do COOP in the boston area.
If so, most of them stay on campus and involved with all the school activities.

If you must have a football team as a big part of the 'school spirit', then it's not it.
Otherwise, it's full of diversity, energy, activities, and school spirit.

Northeastern has nothing in the way of school spirit.

BU at least has hockey.

I wouldn't spend the $$$$ on the non-MIT/Harvard other private colleges in Boston. I just don't think it's worth it.

Youth is trending socially liberal, likely do not actually go to mass, etc. Not a knock on Catholicism, religion just isn't resonating with the youth across all denominations. I am fond of the service and being a good human aspects of Jesuit schools.

This. Also, we’re “Catholic” in the least way possible. But you can be sure DS checked the “Catholic” box when applying ED1 to BC. He’s drawn to the idea of helping others in need and BC has lots of that.

To the Jewish boy’s aunt: there was a Jewish boy on the student panel we saw at our BC tour and he handled this question beautifully. Basically he said he wanted to make the world a better place and he had that in common with his BC classmates. But he said it much more eloquently.

I have a kid in Notre Dame which is known for one of the best 'school spirit' and a kid in Northeastern.

Sure Northeastern's 'school spirit' can't be compared to schools like ND, but better thing about Northeastern is that you get little bit of everything in a diverse environment at one of the best locations.

NEU has ice hockey and both men and women won the beanpot last year (local ice hockey competition, Harvard, BC, BU and NEU). There's plenty of school spirit

NP. Among these schools, the differences are primarily in numbers of Asians and internationals. Fall 2022 from IPEDS:

Northeastern: 19% Asian, 5% black, 11% Hispanic, 42% white, 14% international
BU: 19% Asian, 5% black, 10% Hispanic, 33% white, 23% international
BC: 11% Asian, 5% black, 11% Hispanic, 58% white, 9% international
Tufts: 10% Asian, 6% black, 10% Hispanic, 44% white, 12% international

how often do you see alumni wearing anything north eastern? If there's spirit, it sure doesn't last long

again, describing BC (although "diverse" environment is an equal stretch for any of these schools)

DC thinks they want a school with a lot of school spirit and a fun and social energy but with kids who also take academics seriously. Would love thoughts from parents with kids at one of these.

Wow. You almost don’t have to visit: BC is ED1.

The other schools don’t fit. Visit Holy Cross instead — very good for Econ and Math, not far from Boston, and fits your description nicely. That’s your ED2. You’re welcome.

With BC and Holy Cross as your ED1 and ED2, better make sure you run the net price calculator, because both of them are gonna cost ya.

As opposed to the likes of Tufts? Come on.

I think the point is that with ED, you're "committing" to a school w/o seeing an FA package.
