It's rolled up further.

As a male, I don't mind, but don't pretend yours wasn't shorter than your mom's and these girls aren't shorter than yours.

Thank you. Oddly, even on the school's website, they are rolled super high. I just wouldn't feel comfortable with my daughter in an environment where that is encourage. She is pretty modest. And I'm not a prude or old (am in my 40's and also went to Catholic school).

It is shocking to see the Sidwell girls leaving school everyday with their literal asscheeks jiggling in the sun... but as I'm sure we'll soon see, a lot of parents feel very strongly that they should be allowed to make the choices they want, and that it's wrong to sexualize them for doing so.

This part is correct. Stop leering at children.

+1

Just because they're wiggling them around as they walk past construction workers and stopped traffic on Wisconsin Ave doesn't mean anyone should sexualize them.

No, it doesn’t.

Are you a “well, what was she wearing?” person?

No, I have no comment other than I was surprised to see they were allowed to have bare butt cheeks jiggling visibly as part of the dress code at Sidwell. I assumed the school was stricter.

Jiggling?

Yes. Not all of the girls are slim.

Yeah, that's how much was showing. I would've thought for the money they pay to attend, they'd be able to afford longer shorts.

Maybe they’re on scholarship. Short on money and short on shorts.

Clutch those pearls! Parents have been saying this about young women ever since the Flapper period.

They say women would dress a lot hotter if there were no men in the world.

Tis true.

Right, but the flappers did not wear anything as short as what they wear now.

The question is, does anyone care?

Men sure don't, and apparently most women don't either. So, deal with it. But don't pretend they're not wearing less.

Sorry, as a mom, don’t want to see it. 🫣🫣

why not? their body, their choice.

Stop looking at the bodies of teenage girls. Weirdo.

+1. They wear shorts under them. So it's OK.

I wish all schools had uniforms. The clothing that is marketed to teenagers is so revealing and even trashy now. I think girls look a lot more confident and put-together wearing something that is less revealing.

Again, the shorts don’t cover much sometimes if they wear them at all. I work near Wisconsin Avenue and sit in the park regularly because of the beauty of the Cathedral but it is clear the school does not do anything to discourage revealing clothing, especially on nice spring days.

I understand they are young but the standards of professionalism dissipated.

In these threads, a few people trot out the "don't sexualize young girls!" Which is a nice sentiment.

But, get real, when girls wear tiny shorts and revealing tops, it's intended to be sexy. And while they may not be seeking sex, per se, they get that that sort of dress is "hot" and appealing to males. The whole point is to be a little daring and risque. It's not the summer temperatures that motivate girls to wear uncomfortably short shorts.

I get that fashion has few limits right now, with celebrities regularly getting in the news for wearing sheer dresses with just a thong out in public.

But to blame the viewer for finding provocative dress provocative, well, that's silly.

Y’all have amnesia. That’s ok, I did too. We went to an event at a Catholic school this past year, and I was telling my mom how short the girls were wearing their skirts. She laughed at me and told me I did the same in HS.
