My single sex hall at Northwestern had a single sex bathroom in 1987, that always had male students in it because they weren't going to walk back to their dorm in the middle of the night.

We had regular gappy toilet stalls, and showers with just curtains.

An official all gender bathroom, with accommodations like full length doors sounds so much better.

My husband went to Purdue in the late 90s and I can assure you men were upstairs in the women’s dorms after 10pm.

There are over 3,000 institutions of higher learning in the US where your daughter can get her degree. Several, hundreds, possibly even more than 1,000 of those colleges offer housing that does not have mixed gender bathrooms. Put it on the list of features you use to narrow your list from 3,000 to 12. Apply to those 12.

Or adapt? There is a solid chance that just today in high school she used a toilet in a stall next to a lesbian in the adjacent stall. The lesbian probably didn’t want to use a bathroom with a bigot, but she didn’t get a choice either.

I'm a guy who had these bathrooms in college and this never happened. Not once.

I am a woman who lived on a coed hall at Virginia Tech in the early 2000s. I remember being harassed by the boys as I walked down the hall if I left the bathroom wearing only my towel.
