a big shower room would have been a no for me
|
| I'm glad this wasn't a thing in my freshman dorm. Can you imagine having your crush walk in while you're mid diarrhea blast and then recognize your shoes from under the stall door when he/she sees you later in the hallway? |
| Well she’s in luck then because no one expects you to share a dressing room or shower stall or toilet with anyone regardless of gender. You might meet someone of a different gender (or a lesbian!) while washing your hands the shared sinks but I feel like even the most homophobic among us should be safe doing that. |
That is not a thing even in prisons much less college dorms. |
She is capable of going to college but hasn't figured out that lesbians use the women's room? |
| Hampden Sydney had literally one large tiled room with 10 shower heads on the wall. Zero partitans or curtains. It was single sex, so that part wasn't an issue but if you expected any sort of privacy while washing your privates, you were SOL |
I did in 1999. I lived in a women's dorm at Purdue. Men were not allowed on the floors past 10 pm and never in the bathrooms. What's your point here, exactly? |
You are at a women's dorm. Apparently, your child is going to live in a co-ed dorm. Not sure what you expected. |
| On the college tours I have attended it has been clear that there are a number of options for room style and bathroom style. If your kid does not want all gender bathrooms look for something else like a suite style where your kid shares with one other room. |
| Ask anon on the parents' FB page. |
That's assuming that they'll get their housing choice as freshman. Everyone wants a suite with a common room and bathroom. Triples still exist and need to be filled |
I'm not the OP. Just pointing out that I did go to school in the 90's, and modesty existed. |
| I suggest your daughter look into Liberty or another Christ-centered/conservative college. |
I don't understand what you don't understand. You have all gender bathrooms in your home, don't you? Why is this puzzling for you? Are you slow? |
There are plenty of colleges that are all suite style, or where you can guarantee a good dorm placement by registering early, or where the honors dorm is all suite style. If not sharing a bathroom with people is a high priority, OP can make it happen. |
