IVF may soon end in Alabama

This is horrific. Can't imagine what families are going through that are doing ivf in Alabama right now. I can't even understand what will happen to their current frozen embryos. And if this goes to the supreme court it could trickle down to us

Costa Rica banned IVF from 2000 to 2016
Italy IVF is only allowed between married heterosexual couple.
Germany, Switzerland, Netherlands, and Austria all forbid the practice of using donor eggs. Surrogacy is also not allowed in those countries except for the Netherlands.

Yes, Catholics suck. Your point?

Vote for Gilead, don't be surprised when they come for all the uteraii in your family

The scary part is that many people actually want Gilead. WTF is wrong with people?

How is any of this oppressing women?

Presumably the plaintiffs in this case want to have children through IVF. Did they not understand what this outcome was going to be?

Yes you are. You are opressing any person who has any thought or different opinion from yourself, which includes some women.

Terribly irony. Tragic.

You are welcome to think however you want. You are not welcome to make decisions for other women though.

Catholics want to prevent women from controlling their own fertiiity/reproduction.

Citizens of Alabama got what they wanted when they elected these judges and the legislators who made the laws they’re enforcing. Boo hoo. Fewer Alabamans procreating is probably a good thing.

The only reason to care about this is the potential for this political cancer to spread.

What if the provider uses a procedure (maybe testing for genetic issues?) that damages the embryo? Can the provider be held liable for injuring a child?

Wouldn’t there already be a risk of lawsuit or possibly the center being shut down in this case?

A friend had a single embryo after ten years of trying. She would have been inconsolable if it was accidentally destroyed.

Virtually guaranteed to spread, at this point.

Except for the many, many politically pro-choice Catholics who understand the difference between personal religious views and the law of a peaceful land where religious views diverge widely.
