College and University Discussion
This! Some people are SUCH a$$holes. My kid is ecstatic that she was accepted to MSU. Wanna tell me about their 88% acceptance rate?? C’mon, PPP, I know you do |
Sorry for your DC especially with the admirable PT work. Consider a letter of interest later with any good updates. Are there other schools they are excited about? |
Correct. The fact is both of you are a$$holes. Well done. |
Congratulations to your DC! |
| Congrats! A top choice for my son in a couple of years. I have a feeling that now that it is nationally ranked the admissions will only get harder (like VT). |
The odds are in your favor if you have a 3.8 or higher, but I’m hearing of a lot of kids with below a 3.8 who have gotten deferred or rejected. |
I remember JMU being very hot 30 years ago when I was applying. |
unhelpful and unkind to those waiting |
It had a much lower acceptance rate 30 years ago. |
But you still have to have a fairly high GPA to get in. |
| Admitted! Maryland girl with 4.0 uw and 1410 SAT, 3 APs, and good arts background. She’s hoping for Honors college. |
Honors college is great just for the early registration perk. Also, the honors dorm is one of the newest buildings. |
| JMU used to be much more selective. They said it stood for Just Missed UVA. It’s obviously not like that anymore. |

Everyone with the lots of ECs
when do the kids do them if they have more than one EC? Weekends only? Ds has one but its too much going every evening for even just one. |
Same - I remember Virginia Tech being a safety for JMU, which at the time had an acceptance rate around 35% (early 90s). Kids who did not get into UVA or William & Mary, went to JMU; and if they didn't get into JMU, then Virginia Tech. |
