Accepted, 4.2 wGPA (6 AP, 9 DE), 1440 SAT, 31 ACT, rural central VA public hs, not an insane amount of ECs but one is a leadership position that virginia only has one of.

We went last year. I loved it.

For the last 26 years I have sent them $150 on the anniversary of my graduation.

$150 a year or did you mean $150,000 for the last 26 years?

That ends now.

Sorry. I'm trying to understand. You give $150 a year as a donation to JMU? Do you mean $150,000 donation each year?

What is the choices event?

It's JMU's accepted students day. I think they had three last year. You can go to the school you plan on majoring in (e.g. the business school) and listen to the Dean give a presentation. You get a tour. It helped my son solidify his choice.

Honors college is great just for the early registration perk. Also, the honors dorm is one of the newest buildings.

DD got accepted yesterday and got into honors today. It does look like a nice perk.

I did look up the dorm Shenandoah hall. While it is the newest it looks to be set up with hall style bathrooms. That is what I had at VT and in retrospect it added to the college experience. I was surprised the newer building wasn't suite style but I know very little about trends in college dorms, specifically at JMU.

I’m nearly certain that Honors students only live in Shenandoah if they apply for the Honors Residential Learning Community. https://www.jmu.edu/orl/rlc/index.shtml . Last year parents of Honors students posted that they had been under the impression that freshmen Honors students got to select their dorms first, only to learn that this only applied to Honors students who had signed up to live in the RLC. Otherwise they pick their dorm based on when they submitted their deposit. Either way, Honors students need to submit the RLC form in the spring if they want to live in Shenandoah. Otherwise they can live in any freshman dorm based on what is available. Some of the dorms have suite style bathrooms while others have hall style.

My son is a freshman this year in the honors college and lives in Shenandoah. When you accept your admission to the school, you also have to accept the admission to the honors college. When you do that, it asks if you want to live in Shenandoah. If you don’t want to live there, then you select in the order of your housing application.

He loves it because it’s friendly but quiet. He would not enjoy one of the more social/party dorms.

DS school has only seen waitlist results. CC has some acceptances from OOS

Did RD come out yet?

Yes today around noon. Very surprised the thread has been quiet. Appears that most instate that were deferred were waitlisted.

That’s how it was last year. Mine was deferred and then waitlisted and never got in. Had a 3.6 gpa and two siblings go to JMU. Had classmates with lower GPA’s get in who did sports or had more religious activities. Covid was hard on trying to get involved for that class. Oh well

My DS got deferred and then waitlisted. Two of his friends with worse stats got admitted. Yield protection maybe?

Kid just logged on using 2 devices. Can't access the portal.

Wondering if the server is experiencing some traffic issues.

DC was accepted RD but did not receive any notification - simply states "accepted" in the profile. Odd.
