To reassure anxious students and parents during this stressful time. It definitely needs to be said - the odds are overwhelmingly in your favor.

Because the pp is one of these insecure people who can only make themselves feel a little better by tearing others down. It's a character flaw.

It is not tearing other people down to note that JMU has a very high acceptance rate. The purpose of the college forum is to provide factually accurate information.

DP, be that as may, the phrasing could have been done much better and kinder. You can assure, without also coming across as condescending and hurtful.

There’s also a time and place for it. Presumably those that applied are already aware of the admissions data and overall acceptance rate, but now they are waiting for their own personal outcome.

A few people actually posted acceptance rates earlier, which is helpful. Admit you came to this thread to be a jerk and be condescending. It’s obvious from your tone. Feel better about yourself? So pathetic that you felt the need to come here and post while parents are celebrating milestones in their kids’ lives.

Congrats, OP!! These seem like strong, high stats to me. JMU has an 86% acceptance rate…am I missing something? Not from the DCVM area. Is it much harder to get in now?

Yes, it is much harder to get in now.

Schools get "hot" real quick nowadays. With the Gameday event and basketball winning we were very afraid this could be JMU's year.

The thought of going to school in Gainesville kind of makes me puke. Has he ever seen that sorry excuse for a town?

yes, we’ve been to quite a few football games there, we have a 2nd home in St Augustine. it’s actually his first choice. He would have picked any other SEC school over JMU or VT but wants to be close to home, either florida or VA.

and as far as towns I BY FAR think blacksburg is the absolute worst. Not to mention is is sooo dreary.

Any positive shred of reassurance you may have intended is dwarfed by kicking some when they are down from rejections or deferrals.

DC is in. We are happy to have it as an option. It is a great school and he would do well there.

Wishing all of you who are checking the portal today success.
