Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)
One of the kids had an ankle monitor... It would be insane to just give him an RJ session and transfer him to a different school at this point. |
That's what Jawando and his progressives want. |
The kid with the ankle monitor likely just broke the agreement with Juvenile services and will have to meet with his judge and lawyers again. |
This is stunning. MCPS should be ashamed and embarrassed. |
Should they??? Parents, kids, and families should be embarrassed. MCPS is just dealing with this. |
Parents, kids and families who aren’t engaged in violence want MCPS to seriously punish and hold accountable the parents, kids and families who engage in violence at schools. It is MCPS who is sitting on its hands about it. |
The alternative school (Twain) was closed in 2008: https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/montgomery-to-close-full-day-program-for-emotionally-troubled-middle-high-schoolers |
And then what? Is this serial rules violator really scared about a "meeting" with juvenile services? Nothing else will happen. |
But Jawando is going to make it all better with restorative justice. Especially with the 18 year old carjackers. They just need a good old fashioned restorative circle to be seen and feel seen. Then everything will be a-okay. Stop centering your fear of being killed, that is your white supremacy showing. |
hahahahahahahaha the bolded. JAWANDO LEAD THE CHARGE TO REMOVE POLICE FROM SCHOOLS. |

When I was in HS in another state, our compulsory education law only ran through 16. So if there were 17 and 18 year olds that truly did not want to be educated, I don’t think the school district pushed it — they got expelled or dropped out. I’m not sure that’s the right answer but it does strike me that if a 17 year old doesn’t want to be educated, shuffling him around schools probably won’t solve the problems.
For those kids that got into the fight, would be really interesting to see their grades, how many assignments they turn in, how often they are in class, etc. I’d cut them a little more slack if their teachers said these are kids that are really trying to learn. My guess is that at least for some of them, that’s not the case. It also occurs to me that maybe the virtual academy could be used for some of these kids. If they can’t be appropriate when around other students/teachers, then a remote learning environment would seem more appropriate. |
It sounds like you are not aware of the specific facts here so you should just sit down. This was discussed extensively by the families involved. It was not a figh, it was an assault. That’s based on the specific facts of this instance — I’m sure there have been fights in the past. |
Have you been in this area long? That is exactly what will happen. What else can MCPS do with this student? |
Seems if students engage in violence or cause disruptions to other students’ learning more than a couple times should not be moved to other schools, rather placed in online academies. |
No, it was a fight, just like in past years (according to my WJ grads who are still in touch with students currently at the school). Only difference this time? Black kids caught on camera beating up white kids |
