Have things improved since the president slept with his daughter in law? Rot has gotta be pretty deep for that.

You're referring to something that happened in... 1999? How typical.

Grasping at straws and ridiculous

It’s not grasping at straws when it was a legit scandal culminating in the suicide of the DiL. Sad that you think her death and the preceding abuse of power is ridiculous.

Hillsdale is a joke. My company is littered with Hillsdale grads because our president is a complete right wing nut job. They are so awkward - a little cult constantly praising each other for "being the light of Christ". Most try to social climb their way up rather than actually learn their jobs and do competent work. I put them in the same category as Liberty. Avoid.

Hillsdale Univ = Prager U? Asking for a friend.

Lot's of people are frustrated with Harvard and other typical Ivys. I wouldn't be shocked if there was some sort of shake up. A flee to more traditional / conservative schools. Hillsdale included.

It’s a Christian school. Why would you compare it to Harvard?

They think they are “free thinkers” or some such nonsense

Sounds like you don’t like your company or your boss or your colleagues.

It’s not even that well regarded by Christians. Evangelicals will tell you that Wheaton ( the one in Illinois) is the Harvard of Evangelicals. There is a pecking order and Hillsdsle isn’t in it. Also a lot of their faculty don’t actually have a phd so there’s that. Also Harvard is a research university bringing in big national and international research grants which Hillsdale doesn’t do. not exactly chock a block with Nobel prize winners either.

Hillsdale is a solid school for Classics majors.

Not many of those anymore.

Seriously?

Why not? Seems odd that folks are extolling Hillsdale’s Christian virtues yet one of the presidents had an affair with his daughter in law throughout most if not all of his tenure, an affair that culminated in her death.

So yeah, seriously.

PhD is not a relevant credential for teaching liberal arts undergrads. Very few undergrads pursue PhDs or academic research., and research is usually a distraction from teaching ability

If not Hillsdale then what about U of Chicago?

Harvard was founded in the 1600s and has been considered a top college for hundreds of years. It's not going anywhere.

The argument that any of the great universities will fall and be replaced doesn't really make sense.

Hillsdale is older than MIT and Stanford

Harvard is over

Only 40 congresspeople have Harvard credential.

Well if you think a phd isn’t a relevant credential for teaching college students then I can start to see why you might confuse a right wing ideological and evangelical college for Harvard

No they don't. Harvard has a liberal agenda (now), Hillsdale has (always had) a conservative agenda. They are places for breeding idealogues, not scholars.
