GMU's 75th/mid/25th is 4.0 / 3.75 / 3.45 |
How is that so easily misread? |

I -quite literally- only know 1 kid who did not get accepted last year. And even that kid's parents weren't surprised. Some kids who did, with their grades and "resume", it was pretty shocking as the narrative that I'd heard was that JMU was being more selective. That's not to say it's not a great school and a lot of fun. That describes my own non-elite college. But, the odds are in your favor. |
| I'm a JMU alum. More than 7 out of 10 applicants sre accepted. Been on common app for 1-2 years now. Previously regional but now newly designated R2 research university. 80% of undergraduates are from Virginia. Back up for UVA, WM and Tech engineering applicants seeking an instate option. Loves it sports! It is, what it is. Go Dukes! |
Oh lord. Stupidity raises its hand again. I don't know what you think you are reading... but if you have a 3.0-3.1, you are almost certain to get into GMU. There are a few outliers. But not many. 3.0-3.1 gets you in. If you are in CEC, you aren't going to stay long if you started with a hs 3.0. But they will let you in. |
JMU used to be WAY more selective. Only a 35% acceptance rate back in the early 1990s...though the school was much smaller as well. Somehow this narrative continues to survive that it is now more selective, when that is far from the truth. |
JMU never, ever accepted only 35 percent of its applicants, ever. |
Dude...a very simple google search proves you immediately wrong. Are you that lazy? It was actually only 31% back in 1987/88. https://commons.lib.jmu.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1430&context=i19801989 |
You're a moron. PEREFECT social media poster. Just make stuff up. |
DP. What many of us are trying to tell you is that this is not the case. And while GMU may have been mentioned (by you), the topic of this thread is JMU. |
Not for my kid.
|
| Wow, it was definitely where the UVA backup kids went in the 90s and was considered hard to get into. What happened? |
JMU increased the school size way too much. It’s not a STEM school but Virginia economy started moving toward the IT industry. At the same time, VT became popular and GMU became competitive. Both are STEM schools. |
SCHEV's reporting would say that you are wrong. It has the 75th percentile of last year's incoming class at a 4.11; median at 3.89 and bottom 25th of the class at a 3.65. |
