| Does JMU begin announcing admissions anytime soon (e.g. like VCU does) or do they wait for the announcement date and do that in one shot (mid-Jan)? |
| I think they do it all at once, but the acceptance rate was 78% last year, so you should be fine. |
You don't even know the stats of OP's kid. There are plenty of students who do not get accepted to JMU. I'm worried about my own this year.
|
Mid January. Their acceptance rate was 73.5% for 2022-23. They haven't posted their acceptance rate for 2023 yet, but it was no doubt lower. https://www.jmu.edu/admissions/fastfacts.shtml But, no matter what it was, they defer a lot of students to regular decision, so not gauranteed OP's child is accepted in mid january. |
3.3-3.4 gets you into JMU from FCPS. |
It didn't get my DC in. Maybe stop generalizing?

It's based on the Naviance scattergrams. It's an odd case when someone with a 3.4 from FCPS does not get into JMU. I'm sure that doesn't make you feel better. But, it's statistically true. |
Our FCPS HS Naviance scattergram plots application results from 2018 to 2023. Useless. |
The one I'm looking at only shows the late 2 yrs. |
| just play the long game and you'll get in...people will not accept admission and/or change their mind late when they get into a school they deem better. |
One high school is not statistically significant. |
OP. Not worried about getting in. Already have admit to a couple of safeties and a couple of matches. However, would be nice to have a good in-state admit so DC can skip RD applications. |
Your data point = 1. My data point = 200. It has around 200 data points...it's pretty good sample of where the cut line runs for gpa. Sure there are a few rejections in the otherwise green mass above a 3.3 gpa. But they are the exception. In the vadt majority of cases, kids with a 3.3/3.4 get into jmu. |
How do you know my data=1? |
It’s also BS. The average GPA according to SCHEV is 3.9 |
