Not quite.

She viciously attacked the police, calling them “thugs” and “goons.” She repeatedly called for policing to be abolished. Not defunded. Abolished. And this brutal attack on MCPD wasn’t because of anything they actually did. The department is now 20% down and can’t hire, and that is partially because of the hostile work environment she helped create with her spewing hatred.

She is now on the public safety committee. Really? Biased much?

Some of us like our politicians to be a little more mature and reasonable.

Yep, there she is, checking all of your hater boxes. But you're not the one to decide. The voters decide.

I’ll be surprised if she’s re-elected. Very. She is not trusted outside her little super-progressive, closed circle of supporters.

And if I’m a “hater” for calling somebody out for poor behavior, then so be it. I believe politicians are accountable to the public. That includes me. That includes, ironically, the police that she clearly and openly disdains.

Point me to something she has done, please, other than insulting huge swaths of people in her role on the council. (Let’s not forget the Muslims aligning with white supremacists statement, too. Or calling a police commander directly to get her tire fixed.) Seems to me that what she does best is cause controversy. That’s not getting the right things done.

If you want to defend Mink, then why don’t you tell us why we should be impressed. Point out her positives instead of saying “there’s more Mink hate.” That’s not very convincing, at all, and it suggests there really isn’t anything to like if you can’t articulate it.

And incidentally, I’d happily say any of this in public, and have. All of my statements can easily be backed up with proof from her social media feed or council videos.

she's a hack and way over her head. Many people don't vote in local elections..if they did, she would never win. Most people in that area aren't as batsh*t crazy as she is but many moderates just stay home.

She’s not my cup of tea and I’m not in her district. But she represents her district well, it’s downtown Silver Spring, it’s the furthest left except for Takoma Park, and she represents them. Just like Marjorie Taylor Greene accurately represents her district of Deliverance, Georgia.

But does she represent her district well? Crime is skyrocketing and she actively supports reducing police presence in Silver Spring.

So I ask: IS she representing them well?

I don’t mind if she spends time promoting her interests (story hours, for example) but GET IT DONE when it comes to reducing crime. Heck, she’s on the public safety committee! All I see her doing is handcuffing the police while crime increases. Is that helping Silver Spring?

You can ask all the questions you want, but if you don't live in her district, your opinion is irrelevant.

It absolutely is NOT irrelevant. Her extremely biased views are currently sitting on the public safety council. This makes this OUR problem since her influence isn’t on her little pocket of Silver Spring. If that little pocket wants her to lead them into the ground, that’s fine. But she won’t lead this county into the ground.

She is accountable to the entire county, and that includes me.

So answer my question. How is she helping Silver Spring?

No, she is accountable to her constituents, and that evidently does not include you.

Then she can remove herself from the public safety committee if she doesn’t want to be held accountable. Until then, her actions and beliefs DO affect me.

I’ve asked twice now for an explanation of her good work and both times the request was met with silence. That says a lot.

She is "held accountable" by the voters of her district, and the voters of her district hold her accountable by voting.

You're not holding her accountable, you're just complaining about her. Which is fine, as far as it goes - anybody gets to complain about any elected official they feel like complaining about. It just doesn't go very far.
