You really demonstrate your cluelessness by proclaiming the mayor "finished." I hate the mayor and she's going nowhere. She was just re-elected and totally controls the DC Democratic Party apparatus. Try again in 2 years.

The FBI/DOJ investigation into DMPED’s dealings with DC developers is accelerating. It’s hard to see Bowser avoiding it.

It's adorable that you think people will care. DC had a mayor who was filmed smoking crack and got reelected.

Truth is, there is no viable candidate who could beat Bowser right now. There's no one on the Council, and Bowser would tee off on Racine's dismal record on crime if he chose to mount a challenge.

The difference is that many of Barry’s supporters were also “involved” with the criminal justice system and so identified with him.

How many DC voters actually support or identify with DC government corruption for “selling” DC real estate to developers at highly favorable prices, for access to lucrative “public-private partnerships” or for targeted upzoning that can provide financial windfalls to connected cronies?

No one cares about municipal corruption.

What will end Bowser is if property taxes are ever increased.

DC already did a backdoor property-tax increase by making sure everyone's property assessments skyrocketed, far past what can be considered realistic. We challenged ours and won, as did a number of other people in our neighborhood, but most people won't bother challenging them.

If only Marion Barry was still around. DCs problems would be solved.

The Bowser Admin will be pressured to further cut commercial real estate assessments big time, given the continued softening of the office market. So look for countervailing substantial increases in residential real estate assessments, especially west of Rick Creek, to fuel the DC’ government’s insatiable appetite for tax revenue.

Yup. We’d have federal Control Board II by now. And DC could sure use it.

Looks like they plan to make up the balance by raising taxes again, including raising sales taxes and residential property taxes.
