The Republican Party of Virginia mails out nude photos of a candidate

I guess they wanted to remind people of what type of person this lady is.

I think it was an extreme tactic but we all know political campaigning hits below the belt.

First of all, the thread says "The Republican Party of Virginia mails out nude photos of a candidate," which never mentions Youngkin. You were the one who brought up Youngkin.

Secondly it's routine for campaigns to have their state party print their mailer because state parties get a discount on postage by as much as 25%. Davis Owen was probably involved in this.

It’s not revenge porn in any reasonable sense. The whole premise of revenge porn is the public distribution of private and intimate material. She was providing this content on a commercial basis. She maybe has an intellectual property claim and that’s it.

It’s also mystifying to me that through her actions, she is discrediting sex work. Presumably as a Democrat she supports sex workers?

Tortious interference with business contracts?

You're OK with the Republicans sending explicit mail to mailboxes in VA? To houses where minors live?

It's not the strategy I would pick - but that's a different issue than the consent / privacy of the person in the photo. It should be a good reminder to everyone about what you do online.

OP youngkin doesn't run the Republican party of Virginia. Also f you can read your own picture it says: "NOT authorized by any candidate"

He basically does run RPV. He is their biggest funder and their staff work together on everything related to fundraising.

I don't think there's much claim from a legal side. These are photos she posted publicly online and sold. They are showing a "fair use" excerpt.

Whether it's an underhanded move is a different question.

I've seen her videos. She's pretty average.

The thread title was originally “Youngkin mails out nude photos of a candidate” which you can still see in your reply before you submit it.

WTF? She didn't post "publicly" or sell them publicly.

And she certainly didn't give the VA GOP consent to mail anything out.

Your last statement illustrates how the GOP has normalized this type of repugnant campaigning. On top of just lying. They suck. They have ruined this country.

DP. No, the GOP shouldn't have done this. And the Democratic party shouldn't have allowed the candidate to go forward. The political parties used to be gatekeepers and then they decided to abandon that - well, it's their job, their duty. Start doing it.

And the GOP shouldn't attack women's rights so here we are.

This is actually a good litmus test. If you’re a Republican and you think this mailer is okay, you’ve completely replaced your values with partisanship. This is unequivocally bad. Anyone, even a partisan Republican, should be easily able to stand up and condemn this, and want accountability for the party officials who authorized it.

I'd like to see nude photos of all candidates before making my decision as to who to vote for. But that's just me.

+1. The hypocrisy of the party who claims to that books in a library are harming innocent kids, then mails porn to people's homes... Ridiculous. And the stamp on the front of the envelope that it's only for 18+ is pretty much enticing the under 18 to open it. How is the opener supposed to prove their age before opening the envelope? Attesting age wasn't sufficient enough protection to prevent minors from viewing porn in Virginia that they had to enact law (yes this was bipartisan) to require ID before accessing a porn site ...

But it is totally cool to just mail porn to people's homes?

Neutral - doesn't tip the scale either way for me. It's not my area but I would NOT vote for the woman who did the porn site, if it was.
