Pretty rich coming from the folks losing their mind about a D being removed from the ballot because they couldn't even state their address correctly.

You are are too literal. The anger is over any sort of mailing at all drawing attention to the sex work in such a prurient yet salacious manner (what with the trigger warning/teaser on the envelope).

Gibson didn’t hurt anyone. It isn’t relevant. And the fact that the party thinks it needs to use titillation to slut she is more disgusting than anything the did on camera.

Words matter. Language matters. The truth matters.

If you're going to accuse someone of doing something, be ready to back it up. You don't get to say "Well, I meant to say...."

I didn’t make the post and you are being deliberately obtuse. Because of course you are. Nothing conservative Republicans ever do is in good faith. You are all fundamentally immoral, evil people who hate America and all that she stands for.

x1 billion

Every single exchange with Republicans can be boiled down to this.

09:45 being a case in point.

Funny thing is, he thinks it's a "gotcha."

It's like they think they have a sense of humor or something.

Lately, I’ve been wondering how exactly someone could end up as a conservative Republican. It’s truly mind boggling to me. Maybe they are genetically predisposed to heightened irrational fears and/or a lack of humor? That could potentially drive someone towards evil.

DP. It's curious that you're intent on changing the subject of this thread - which is about a DEMOCRAT who engages in online porn, accepts money for doing do, and is also running for office. Oh, and she's also an OB/GYN and mother of two. Yet here you are, nattering on about Republicans? Do you even hear yourselves? Talk about "mind boggling."

The subject of this thread is Republicans sending out explicit mailers to thousands of Virginians, including those with young children. It's just so vile and hypocritical. And people here are defending it.

Why on earth would anyone be a Republican in 2023? It's truly mind boggling.

Maybe those mailers were sent out because Democrats have told us time and time again that they are A-OK with graphically sexual images/porn, including with their kids being exposed to it. So it's kind of funny that *all of a sudden* it's not ok after all! And even funnier because there actually were NO NUDE pictures in the mailer. None.

Do continue clutching your pearls and taking to your fainting couch. Maybe Republicans should start mailing copies of "Gender Queer," etc. to your homes. I do wonder how on earth you could possibly object?

So then did the Republicans only send the explicit mailers to Democrats then?

You are OK if Republicans send "Gender Queer" to homes with young kids?

And you wonder why we think you're vile.

And so now I guess you understand exactly what people think of you - the hypocrites who insist sexually graphic books are appropriate for school libraries. Why are you bothered by this, again?

You don’t see a difference between teens seeking out mature-themed, award-winning books in the library vs. Republicans sending explicit mailers to thousands of people’s homes who never asked for them?

Are you the obtuse poster from earlier?

I would say obtuse perfectly describes anyone who keeps insisting there were nude pictures in these mailers. We are all well aware by now that there were no nude pictures. Do continue the faux outrage, though!

I said: “Republicans sending explicit mailers to thousands of people’s homes who never asked for them“.

I said: “Democrats ensuring books with far more explicit sexual content than these mailers are available in every middle school library in the state, for kids who never asked for them”.

Such a blatant lie.

Nobody is forcing teens in high school to check them out.

DP. No one has to check out those books to see what they contain. Stop being so deliberately obtuse. You're simply horrified! that a mailer would be sent out with a picture of this woman's head and not much else - but you have zero issues with sexually graphic books being available to teenagers. Make up your mind, hypocrite.

NP but didn't care that a mailer was sent out except that it seemed ironic and irresponsible from the POV of a Republican party who purports to worry about kids accessing books in school libraries, then sends delicious mail home marked up on the front of the envelope to make it enticing for a kid to check it out. The hypocrisy of GOP was just... Interesting.

There were no "explicit" mailers. OP was quickly debunked.

I know that. It doesn't make what the GOP did any less hypocritical though, to send a letter direct to people's homes with clear indication of something juicy inside. Even if it wasn't
actually a nude it would absolutely entice a kid to sneak to open the envelope and investigate her further or dig the letter out of the trash after the parent discarded it. Sending that mail absolutely resulted in plenty of kids looking her up and finding her stuff, sharing it amongst themselves

Think of the Harry Potter books and how Professor Umbridge all but guaranteed kids would read the newspaper by publicly banning it.

I don't care about books in libraries (big Judy Blume fan here, I read some of her banned books in elementary school). Nor porn nor the fact that this letter was mailed to families homes.

I just think it's hypocritical for the GOP to have pulled this stunt given their usual hysterical "what about the children?!" platform. And kinda of amusing, TBH.

and yet claim to care about t kids in

Then you have totally missed the point. The (non-porn) mailer caused much clutching of pearls and faux outrage from the party who claims ACTUAL porn/graphically sexual material is no biggie in school libraries. You know, libraries in which any student can easily access this graphic material, any day of the week. You and your fellow Democrats are the biggest hypocrites of all, and your reaction to this mailer made it as clear as ever.
DP

No, the whole question was…if Rs don’t want kids exposed to “explicit” stuff then why are they sending out mailers that they consider to be “explicit” to homes with kids?

No, the whole question was... if Ds don't care at all about their kids seeing sexually graphic material, then why on earth are they pretending to care that a non-graphic flyer was sent to their homes with kids? Answer: because they are hypocrites of the highest order.

We were simply pointing out the hypocrisy of Republican words and actions. Cute that you’re trying to flip it back to deflect - my 4th grader tries that too.

Unfortunately, she will never outrun this. Nor will her children or parents.

She obviously doesn’t care so why should we?

+1 She seems happy and proud of her life as a mom and wife who shares porn with the paying public.

Except the hypocrisy was entirely on the part of Democrats. You don't mind kids being exposed to sexual material? Ok, great - here ya go! It's really not a difficult concept. It's like if someone said, I don't care if my child watches an R-rated movie - and then they go to a friend's house and watch an R-rated movie and you (the parent) are outraged when you find out. Make up your mind!

It’s more like…the parent who makes a big deal that kids shouldn’t watch R movies invites a bunch of kids come over and watch an R movie at their house. And then we say hey that’s hypocritical, guess you were full of crap about the R movies.

I thought the mailer was despicable, but not because I'm worried about kids seeing explicit content in it.

It's more the idea of widely distributing content that was clearly intended for a specific audience in order to publicly slut-shame her. It has kind of a revenge-porn vibe to it, even if it wasn't actually explicit material. It was using her explicit material against her in a very public way. Not appropriate.

She is disgusting and so is her husband. If you consider that "slut shaming," then oh well.

And yet she only lost by <1000 votes. Guess a large number of voters thought her opponent was more disgusting.

She can now do what thousands of other Chaturbate performers do: not be a public official. Her life would have been hell had she won, and I'm thinking the only reason she didn't drop out was that the dems needed every seat they could get. She has to be incredibly relieved that they flipped the house without her.

+1

The PP who think dems were posting here because they were actually fearful for kids seeing the flyer doesn't get it at all. And I'm one of the early posters on this thread.

I know, I know, women aren't supposed to enjoy sex or if they do, they should never admit it.

It was a pretty big night for Democrats overall in Virginia, so she significantly underperformed her party ID.

You aren't a slut when you do it for money. You're a prostitute.

Maybe somebody who's watched all her videos will correct me here, but from what I understand she wasn't out there letting random guys pay to have sex with her.
