Not sure what year you are using but Wake has been at 20 percent acceptance rate for classes of 2026 and 2027 (I think 2027 is a bit lower but hasn’t been officially released yet).

In any case, your reading comprehension skills seem off. No one said the schools are identical. Only that some students apply to both, which makes sense when one considers that most students apply to a combination of reach, target and likely schools.

You are doing a great job of reinforcing the negative stereotypes of Dukies though, keep it up.

But it could have been a UVA grad pointing that out

Right? Part of the reason I had zero interest in the school in the first place. And their sports fans are the most obnoxious in the entire ACC

My reading skills are top notch. If yours were anything like mine you'd have seen I was responding directly to a post that said W was a fraction below D.

This is not a fraction.

And I'm a graduate of Oxford University and Harvard. That has no bearing on my interest in this.

Wakes common data set is pretty good. Gives lots of in like % in Greek life, off campus, etc. we toured, nice campus. But ultimately not the right fit. Also the two ED rounds and then just regular decision makes it a bit harder if you don’t do ED.

Check those reading skills, as "fraction" was not a word I used in my post.

But we all bow down to your elite education or something?

The H bomb. Had to throw that in there. No one GAF where you went to school, except you. Are you 3?

There is no such post. You make it too easy to mock you.

My child’s favorite schools so far are UVA, Richmond, and Michigan. Based on that, is it likely they will like WF?

Yup, all three are known for social, smart kids like Wake. Wake has excellent D1 teams like UVA and Michigan. The campus is beautiful, similar to Richmond in that respect, but obviously larger.

Great. Have a visit scheduled soon!

You can't compare Durham too Raleigh, Durham is an absolute dump outside of the few blocks around campus.

Blocks around campus are trees.

Most of the ACC is public universities. The percent of students at Wake coming from top 20 percent of income families is basically the same as the other private schools in the conference, Duke and Boston College, within two and one percentage points respectively.

Also rich kid schools. So what’s your point?

By your definition, every private university is a rich kid school. Which would make most of the T50 or so schools rich kid schools. In which case, it’s a meaningless label.

No. But Duke, BC and Wake are.

We toured Wake earlier this week and I can’t figure out why it has become so competitive. Campus was built in the 50s and it has this fake old south feel to it. The new expansion part is a shuttle bus ride from campus so anyone interest in Stem will be forced to commute to some classes. Sports facilities are also a bus ride away. What is the point of being in an isolated campus but still having to take a bus to parts of campus?

Everything seemed pretty generic and not all that unique. Our tour guide kept mentioning this danceathon fundraiser as a really unique Wake thing, completely oblivious to the the fact that it’s a pretty common fundraiser event.

It was solidly a regional school back in the 90s and I would put it back in that category.
