What letter? A sub is never fired. They aren’t employees. They are temps. Let’s see the letter. |
The letter the principal sent to the CCES community. As you are not at the school, you haven’t received it. -DP |
| It’s mind blowing the tribal nature of some posters. We are all concerned parents. Just because it’s not our school, why can’t we know? We’re in MCPS, in the community, we deserve to know. My kid went to CCES recently and I’d like to check whether she was exposed to anything. |
I wouldn’t say it’s tribal. There are at least a couple of CCES parents trying to figure out what happened. |
Subs are employees and generally remain employees so long as they sub at least something like three times per semester. They can also use the 401k equivalents to save for retirement (no matching). They do not get health insurance or pensions. |
Then post it. Otherwise join the Catholic Church so you can be with people who support child abuse and cover it up. It’s called passing the trash and MCPS is well known for this. Covering up child abuse at one location so the perp is free to go right next door and do the same thing. |
| I don't think it was anything criminal, but definitely not appropriate. My child said they heard that the sub may have said something racist, may have "thrown" a desk. However, this is second hand, so who knows. I agree that the cryptic email wasn't good. |
|
My kid said she heard a bunch of different rumors, ranging from really bad to not such a huge deal, but I can understand why he would fired.
She actually thought that a kid made something up to get the teacher in trouble because he could be strict, but that's pure conjecture on her part. It's bad enough as parents many of us have no idea what happened, but the fact that the kids are hearing all sorts of rumors without knowing what's true -- and parents can't set the record straight because they don't know -- is really a problem. |
|
The important thing is that this incident- whether it be a bad racism or a desk throwing- cannot be allowed to define who we are as a community.
It is in adversity that our mettle is truly tested. Let us come together and emerge from this stronger than ever, ready to build a brighter future. Thank you! |
| Post the letter. |
Dear Chevy Chase Families and Caregivers, The purpose of this letter is to provide information that Mr. [ ], substitute teacher, will no longer be employed by Montgomery County Public Schools. A vital priority is the integrity of our instructional program as well as our well-being of each student, staff member and volunteers, while ensuring we provide safety and positive experiences for our students. With that in mind, we will make sure that our classes have appropriate coverage in the case of a regular teacher’s absence. Thank you for your continued support and understanding. Please feel free to contact administration if you have any questions or concerns. With Warmest Regards, Jody L. Smith, Principal |
Who does this letter serve? Without sharing why this substitute teacher is being let go, families and caregivers have no context or useful takeaways from this notice. MCPS loves to do this. Check a box to say they did a communication but not bother to think critically about whether the communication was useful or not. |
LOL they sent a letter and blanked out his name? Passing the trash! Guaranteed he can be in another MCPS school tomorrow. Thanks for protecting him! |
No, the letter had the name. The person who posted it here blanked it out. |
| That letter is so Mrs Smith, vague and overly perky. |
