Who is the usual teacher?

The 5th grade teacher (non-CES) who teaches math only.

Why be coy about this? It's not like this teacher did anything wrong by being absent for the day.

How mysterious

Please remember that MCPS' impulse is to brush everything under the rug, even rape, even assault and battery.

So for this letter to have been sent out, and the sub to have been fired forthwith, it was probably so open and shut that they did not have any other recourse.

MCPS NEVER tell parents what happened. Parents only know if there's a court case years down the road (ex: aide in a special needs bus who sexually assaulted a student on camera), or if it makes the news (Damascus high school rape victim whose parents called the police because the Principal would not).

This is why if you know something, post it here.

Sort of defeats the entire point of a message board to have information and not share it.

In this case, I think MCPS handled it well. He was fired in the morning as soon as the staff became aware of his behavior. He will not teach in MCPS again.

Why do you keep taunting us? Spill….

You really should post the details. Unfortunately, most of us don't know what to prepare our children for and some kids won't recognize bad behavior from an adult unless they are specifically forewarned.

I kind of agree. Like the PP said, MCPS will not put out information like this willingly. That aide on the school bus who was sexually assaulting the student got away with if for a while. The Damascus and Rockville rape cases were first tried to just be swept under the rug.

It's good for parents to know what's going on and to ask their kids appropriate questions and prepare them to recognize bad behavior.

And what behavior would that be?

NP but DCUM posts go into Google search results. Why put this teacher’s name into Google associated with this if they are uninvolved? Truly unkind.

I would be interested in simply knowing WHAT happened. Leave out the name if you choose. Just to be aware of what’s going on.

Parent: I don’t care about the name. I do care what happened as I have a child in this age group and would like to know what behaviors they could be exposed to or how one takes advantage of children in this age group.

This is a school in a highly educated area and I am curious what the sub thought they could get away with….

Wrong. He is only banned from one school. MCPS only bans subs from one school at a time. He is free to sub at another school tomorrow. That’s why his name is a secret.

And this was reported to CPS? Of course not. He can be in another classroom today.

Wrong. The letter specifically states that this teacher is no longer employed by MCPS, and his name is not a secret. Obviously, you do not know anything about this matter.
