I would have an issue with sex.

You’ve obviously not watched The Sopranos. It’s a great show but it is not something young children should watch.

Those of you telling the mom to drive are exactly the kind of self-centered a-holes that are ruining society. Congratulations for being proud Neanderthals, I guess. Low class, self-centered idiots.

Pretty sure the self-centered, low class, a-hole, idiot in this story is the mom.

Yeah she super duper overreacted. I don't think it's waaaay out of line to ask the guy if he minds watching something else - and I think it's fine for him to say no. For her to call the flight attendants over again and again is going to be way more traumatic than catching a peep of The Sopranos.

I don't think she handled it well but I cannot in a million years imagine needing to watch the sopranos so badly that I would insist on doing it on an airplane where a little kid could see. I would have just watched something else.
Anonymous
MYOB. I will watch whatever the hell I want when I fly. I've watched John Wick on a flight where tons of guys are getting shot up.

Too bad.

If she behaved that way, I wouldn’t turn it off either, just to spite her.

I wouldn’t. If the airline is showing it it’s fair game. I may fast forward but I’m watching what I want. Sorry if you deem it in appropriate. That’s your problem

Mom of 3.

Yeah, I would just try to redirect my kids' attention in this situation. I was on a flight yesterday and the guy behind me proceeded to watch a show at high volume on his phone. No headphones. Who does that?

Well yeah, I would be considerate in that situation and you would not. We all make our own choices.

Do you expect everyone on the plane to watch Toy Story in case a kid looks up from their Nintendo?

Is he a sociopath? I disagree.

I think the mother had a very valid concern but there were ways she could mitigate it.
- She could have changed seats with her kids. The youngest could sit on the window seat where the oldest was sitting, the older kid with the electronic device could sit where she was sitting and she would have taken the middle seat.
- She could have her kids watch some other age appropriate programming on her own device (yes, if you are travelling with kids then you usually carry their entertainment and devices with you),
- She could have requested to switch seats with people in the row behind her so that the her entire family would sit in the row behind her
- She could request discreetly (a tap on his shoulders) to the person in front and ask if she could hang a coat on the back of his seat so that her kid could not see the screen.

Instead, she went a full Karen mode and started making noise and speaking loudly. As a result, the person in front decided not to help her. Tell me she is a White mom without telling me she is a White mom!

Well right she’s clearly bad but can you imagine your husband/brother/dad having a (admittedly wound up/dramatic) mom say “omg my kids can see nudity on your show!!!” and they would decline to turn it off? No argument that the mom’s bad but it is inconceivable a normal man wouldn’t say oh sorry I didn’t realize your son could see.

She could have been discreet and requested politely. Instead, she made an unnecessary fuss and blamed the guy. The guy was not at fault, so why should he behave that he did something pervy? He was not sitting next to a kid in the same row. He probably would have accomodated her if she requested in a polite manner. She demanded after making a scene and since he was not in the wrong, he did not comply with her demands. If I was in the place of the man, I would have refused too. And I am a woman. I would have refused because that woman already embarressed me by making a scene. In this case, I would not have backed down.

The mom is a nut job. She was wrong.

Delta should not have movies with nudity though.

Yes. I oppose watching nudity or graphic violence on airplanes so everybody much watch only animated films. Thank you for articulating my opinion so clearly.

I mean I wouldn’t have watched it, but the mom shouldn’t have made a big deal. Just move the boy to the middle seat. An 8 year old doesn’t care about boobs anyway.

I'm so surprised by how many people have a problem with nudity. Mom was 100% in the wrong but I get not wanting your kids to see bloody gory shooting scenes. But what is wrong with the human body? We all have one.

Flew multiple Delta flights last month and nothing was edited. If there was anything “racy” a warning popped up saying something like “is this content ok for those around you?” That’s it. So if I watched Sex and the City movie 1 (example) the penis scene was not edited.

Surely you can’t be serious?

I thought this was a thread about the wonderful movie Airplane. Bummer.
