That's judgy as hell. Many seniors get medicine in Mex bc they cant afford it here. The prices are much lower there.

No they don't. They buy them from Canada, or India, depending on their comfort level. It's not seniors who go to Mexico for medicine.

I don't travel to MX for prescription drugs, but I do pick up what I use when visiting.

Republican with a tenuous grasp of geography: The US-Mexican border is 2,000 miles long. It's like driving from DC to the New Mexico/Arizona border.

"Why do we not do anything to lock down the border?"

Exactly! I was just about to post this! You can't do much about geography. I have family in Southern Europe and that region is being overrun by migrants who are risking life and limb to make it to Europe. They still keep coming, despite efforts to dissuade them and despite the risk. People who are desperate enough will find a way in to countries that offer them the hope of a better life just like water always finds a way to seep out somewhere.

Very different situations.

Southern Europe is doing whatever they can to prevent illegal crossings, and numbers are quite limited.

The US is doing nothing, in fact Biden and Harris have publicly been calling for more immigrants to come no matter what, and the numbers are out of control.

Do you have cites for Biden's and Harris' public call for immigrants to come to the US?

Plenty, before, during and after the 2020 election.

Don't be lazy, look things up.

The point is, Democrats act like it’s not even an issue in the first place and they don’t want to do anything to dissuade them from coming illegally. Yes it’s a 2000 mile border but the USA is the world’s preeminent superpower. We are not unable, we are unwilling. The best way to stop them is to remove the incentive by not tolerating illegal immigration and punishing anyone here who economically aids and abets illegals. Make it economically untenable to employ illegal immigrants and the incentive to migrate here will go away. Easier said than done of course, but not impossible. There are political agendas in the way though.

DP. I know plenty of people in Texas, California and Arizona who travel to Mexico for cheap Healthcare. Not just to pick up meds but for treatment.

Medicine in this country is a capitalist nightmare.

Yes republicans have done none of that. If the border is shut down Texas will will feel it. Trade with Mexico is worth $100.2 billion annually in Texas and 7 million jobs in the US and Mexico. This pipe dream of a closed border will never happen. No Texas governor will ever shut the border. They would be impeached within three days. Hell Texas governor pays lip service to closing the borders but does not enforce the laws. Got to wonder why?

Meanwhile. Republicans, as they do with so many things talk a big game about Hysterical-Problem of the Month ("Critical Race Theory"! ) to get the rubes worked up...

Hmmm... like the hospitality industry, and the hotel/tourism industry, and the construction industry? Get real. Republicans are 'pro' anything that makes money. Just look at the firearms industry (but don't worry about mass shootings -- they're a figment of your imagination.)

I don't think we need endless undocumented people coming here, either, but don't be such a Fox News simpleton. They think you're really dumb. Prove them wrong, at least a little bit.

We encourage people to spend food stamps on soda and junk food, so this is what we deserve. Massive obesity rates, and people going for cheap tummy tucks.

Perhaps I have missed where Republicans have proposed legislation to do this? Because I don't think they have. In fact, it was Republicans that were key in tanking Trump's wall provision. In fact, what immigration legislation has been proposed by Republicans at all?

It's coming. In about a month. They just held some hearings on the border. Legislation comes next.
The Democrats held NOT ONE HEARING on border security when they held the House. Time for a change.

Biden has f'ed up the border so badly it will take a lot of work to get it back to a more secure state. Then, we have to find the 2 million or so people Biden has transported into our cities who do not qualify for asylum and get them out. Then, there is the problem of the 1 million + got aways that have crossed our border thanks to Biden's open border policies.

At the same time, we have to deal with the cartels that essentially control our border. Take them out. Bring in the military. If Mexico doesn't cooperate, too bad. This problem has become massive. We can start with the cartels operating within our borders. Arrest them. Lock them up. No bail.
Enough with the nice guy approach. Time to get tough.

Oh sure it is. Come on. Are they rolling it into the legislation to replace the ACA?

PS - Biden has barely changed the policies Trump had.

Oh, FFS.

He eliminated the stay in Mexico plan. Big one.
He announced that nobody would be deported in the first 100 days. Maybe that was a little dogwhistle to migrants to come?
He has implemented catch and release instead of catch and deport.
He stopped construction of the border wall.
He has tied the hands of border agents when it comes to deporting illegal migrants.

As a result, we have had a record number of people entering illegally, a record number of migrants released into the country, a record number of migrant deaths, a record number of got aways, and record amount of illicit drugs entering our country.

So, he has set some records. Not good ones.

And, as for legislation..... Around the 3:50 mark.

This post should be in beauty. I’d rather discuss a woman dragging her three cousins to Mexico to undergo cosmetic surgery, something a lot of women in the US do daily.

And yet the woman survives while two male cousins are murdered by the sexist cartel patriarchy.
