4 Americans kidnapped in Mexico

BOYCOTT Mexico - do not go on vacation there, do not patronize these (likely not appropriately qualified) doctors, especially for cosmetic surgeries, do not cross the boarder for fun. This is horrifying and the authorities appear either unable or unwilling to do anything about this egregious violence.

Why do you think Mexican doctors aren’t qualified?

No we should not be boycotting Mexico.

What happened to these people is tragic and they should not be blamed for it.

But USG has made it clear not to go there - and sadly they suffered the consequences.

This is not a new theme.

For example, Otto Warmbier's parents are Nikki Haley stans. The fact he thought it would be a good idea to go to NK isn't mentioned.

Kayla Mueller's death was a tragedy - and her parents have claimed she died because Obama didn't rescue her. But again, while her death surely isn't her fault - it's serves as an example of why an American civilian shouldn't travel to syria.

State isn't a travel agency charged only with extracting Americans from places they suddenly were unable to leave.

Travel advisories are important! If USG is telling you not to go there then you really shouldn't go there.

Not sure how this is an illegal immigrant issue but I guess both sides salivate for any opportunity to Duke it out and beat their chest. I feel terrible for the families of the victims.

Totally agree. You don’t boycott the zoo cuz the tiger ate the man who jumped in his cage. These people were smart enough to google cheap surgeons in Mexico but not prudent enough to consider the safety issues. They gambled and lost. This woman let her vanity get the best of her and took her friends down with her.

Why would four people drive all the way from Myrtle Beach to Mx gor one of them to have a tummy tuck?

Makes no sense. Perhaps they were planning extracurricular activities?

Hold those responsible accountable? You want the Mexican government to, just, shut down the cartels? They would love too. Are you going to tell them how to do it? Volunteer to go do it yourself? I'm sure you'll get a medal for your efforts.

Actually, yes. And, if they need assistance, the US military would be happy to oblige.
Eliminate the cartels altogether. They are a scourge on the world.

Perhaps they might be eliminated, if Americans would stop buying drugs and supplying the cartels with guns.

What about it does not make sense? People travel for medical procedures all the time.

The tiger is in a cage. In Mexico, the gangs and criminals are roaming around for their victims. I would not go there for any reason.

$3500 in Mexico vs $15-30K in the US.

What’s so hard to understand about that?

Because you might get kidnapped or killed, maybe?

Remember, this is elective surgery. Not life saving.

Yeah but maybe you don’t go to one of the worst parts of Mexico to do that?

There would be NO cartels if America didn't buy their product. Simple as that.

NP. I thought the question was why did 4 people go when only 1 was having surgery, not why go to Mexico for a procedure. Either way, there were travel warnings about that area and I wish they hadn’t gone. It’s really sad that they were attacked, people were killed, and the survivors have to endure this trauma.

You are so damned naive.
The cartels profit not just from drug sales, but from human trafficking. And, they have been mighty busy the past two years with trafficking migrants.
Many of these migrants are indebted to them because they couldn't pay the "fee" upfront.
