On the “Catholic/conservative” scale, where is Villanova?

So, what are the 5 most conservative Catholic schools?

Villanova is a nice choice for many - peers being Northeastern, Lehigh, and possibly even Rochester or Wake a bit higher up in the rankings. Think many would be perfectly content spending four years there

Not sure if still true, but in the past Villanova was referred to as Vanilla Nova by many.

Villanova is a solid school for academics with a great location & attractive campus.

Villanova's overlap schools are: Boston College, Fordham, Georgetown, Lehigh, Notre Dame, N'eatern, U Penn, and the University of Virginia.

My main concern regarding Villanova would focus on diversity--especially the lack of geographic diversity.

Sure there are. Here is my list of the five most traditionalist/conservative Catholic colleges.

1. Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio
2. Ave Maria in Florida
3. Christendom College in Front Royal, VA
4. Thomas Aquinas College in CA
5. Benedictine College in KS

If kid wouldn't attend ND if free b/c it's too conservative, they should not apply to Villanova or any Catholic University including BC.

BC is Jesuit. We're catholic in name only and DS, who is socially more liberal, liked everything about BC.
I wouldn't lump Jesuit in the Catholic bin.

ND is no more conservative than BC.
I love the Jesuits, but they aren't the only intelligent, social justice minded community out there.

BC, ND, Villanova are not targets or safeties for anyone because of acceptance rate, especially in last round.

Asking about catholic/conservative scale, as compared to BC & ND. Not asking about chances.

Responders hoping to be helpful might respond to the question, or other statements made within. You don’t have to accept any advice, including what those who have gone thru the most recent cycle observed. But you can’t control if it is offered.

But you could stop harping about it.

Villanova’s location is great IMO—you get the safe suburban setting while being able to easily hop onto a train into the city.
