On the “Catholic/conservative” scale, where is Villanova?

Assume BC is a match/fit, all good, etc and ND is a high target and kid wouldn’t attend if it was free.

MAGA family member sends kid there.

I don't understand your initial statement. Villanova is lovely and not overly conservative, IMO. The priests are Augustinian, which is very social justice-focused. There are decent LGBTQ resources.

So you’d rate it less Catholic/conservative and pp rates it MAGA.

MAGA is huge there. Tons of kids from Jersey and NY (Long Island & Staten Island).

While yes they do have support services, it is still a religious-affiliated University.

Only your student can decide OP whether it is too Catholic/conservative for them. This board can not answer that.

Enough said. Thanks.

If kid wouldn't attend ND if free b/c it's too conservative, they should not apply to Villanova or any Catholic University including BC.

I disagree 100% about MAGA. As an alumna, as a parent of a current student (from NJ!) - do not associate Catholic with MAGA. Catholicism and the Augustinian traditions of social justice are ingrained in the culture. Going to Mass weekly is not mandatory, but it is very popular (my Sundays were 6:00 sorority meeting, 8:00 mass, almost every week). My child loves it there. They are surrounded by friendly people who are engaged in all kinds of activities that include athletics, Greek Life, and social justice/volunteer causes. It's just a nice school with nice kids.

If you are not religious you can still find a home there and be accepted. If you are offended by or averse to religion being part of the culture (and the curriculum), than any religious school is not a good fit for you.

I didn't say it was MAGA. Just anecdata of one, but I'm sure the parental power that decided recognized something to identify with.

Compared to Georgetown, which has been destroyed by the woke mob/administrators and almost apologizes for it’s Catholic identity, Villanova is a breath of fresh air but by no means MAGA.

BC is Jesuit. We're catholic in name only and DS, who is socially more liberal, liked everything about BC.
I wouldn't lump Jesuit in the Catholic bin.

"woke mob" = "I get all my 'news' from Faux New, especially Hannity/Carlson"

LOL

Villanova farms kids from Long Island like crazy, it definitely has a large MAGA contingency.

Villanova is a very popular safety school for many relatively conservative Catholic high schools in NJ (and NY by the sound of it). If ND is not a good fit then I would not consider Villanova.
