You’re absolutely snarking me. So far you’re not doing better.

It’s a valid question IMO. My kid would never in a million years support this sexist charlatan. He recognizes that the way he talks about and treats women is vile. What values did you instill if he listens to anything that misogynist says and thinks it is true?

Not OP but here is my valid question: why are you so stupid? Was it the fault of your parents?

Wow! A bit defensive. Wonder why.

I just can’t stand idiots.

And I’m an idiot…why exactly?

Yes, it's an issue. You tell them hey this is nothing new we had Rush Limbaugh. They are all liars trying to make money, they're hacks.

They will push back because they are young and DAF.

Eventually they grow out of it, you hope. I had some people I know follow Rush for year even after he was proven to be a fraud.

BTW... lol

Never heard of Andrew Tate, but Joe Rogan, Ben Shapiro and Rush are totally different. Joe Rogan has roughly double the audience of the NY Times and is more about entertainment than anything else. Sure, Rush was a RWNJ, but the left has their fair share of propaganda as well.

Lol no.

Because your question and post demonstrably show an inability to engage in complex thought. Sorry to break it to you. Your post was idiotic. There’s nothing more to say.

Suit yourself. At least my son isn’t a misogynist 😊

Well you are really mean, but I will say that OP probably didn’t do anything wrong. This is like any other cult. People are missing something in their lives when they join, and what they are missing probably isn’t something a parent can provide. Also when kids are older the influence of the parent wanes and they’re more likely to follow their peers. If this was an 8-year old your question might be valid but for somebody who is 18 it’s a different story.

Also be careful, you might be instilling an attitude of condescension and superiority in your children if they are taking after you.

OP here. I wasn't engaging in the posts above but I will respond to this.

I have 2 other ds who think he is awful. I have one who is very into him - mostly the get-rich bullshit he espouses but the anti-woman rhetoric is also being absorbed. I have always instilled into all 3 of them the values that are antithetical to all Tate stands for. I don't know what else to tell you. I am pretty heartbroken right now but I can't dwell on that because I am working hard to take the step to get him to extricate himself from this and it be his idea, bc that is the only way it is going to happen.

His dad and his dad's family are conservative so he has grown up exposed to that kind of thinking as well, but none of them would ever condone any kind of Tate way of thinking. My ds is also down this rabbit hole with 2 close friends so there is a huge peer pressure element too.

I’m skeptical you’d have the intellectual ability to tell if he was a misogynist or not.

This is a more gracious answer than that dim PP deserved.

OP, get tougher. I’m sorry but young white makes get away with SO damn much BS. They are treated with kid gloves. Parents don’t want to offend them or push them away. It is this very treatment that makes them so likely to follow Tate, Rogan, etc. you’re actively raising a far right wing extremists who espouses misogynistic views and dangerous anti-science/vaxx views.

From where I stand, your son is a danger to society and my DDs. Don’t be scared of parenting. Sit down and talk to him point blank. Show him evidence. Have him talk with experts. Get him counseling. Cut off funds, if need be. Make him get a job so he’s not wasting time w this BS.

This is what I am working on with my exh. We have to be a team on this. FWIW I did the point blank conversations at first but they go nowhere.

Part of me is thinking about not even letting him go back to school this semester if we can't make progress on changing his thinking. His school is states away.

Tate was just arrested in Romania for human trafficking. Your son isn't going to listen to anything you have to say because he doesn't view women as people. Either a male he respects is going to have to tell him what a pathetic loser he is or he's going to have to be allowed to make his own mistakes.

To be frank, being allowed to drop out to "run" his little pyramid scheme drop shipping "business" sounds like exactly the life lesson he needs.

I think it is unfair to put Rogan in the same category as those guys. I used to have a negative view of him based on the media. Some of his podcasts came up in my youtube feed because he interviewed an expert in a topic I am interested in. I started watching some of his stuff. He is not what people accuse him of. He is actually pretty liberal.

A dangerous person is 60% propaganda and 40% real (a key component to propaganda).

An evil person (Rogan) is 10% propaganda and 90% real … because the lines are so blurred,

It seems like your vision is blurred.

What propaganda are you claiming he spews? From what I have seen he has a variety of guests on his show with different perspectives. He doesn't agree with what they all have to say. He actually has discussions which is quite rate these days.

I know he rejected a request from the Trump people to have him on. So there is that.

I sort of agree with this. Sometimes tough love is the best option. Pain sucks but sometimes that’s the only way to learn a lesson.
