Andrew Tate influence

Yes, it's an issue. You tell them hey this is nothing new we had Rush Limbaugh. They are all liars trying to make money, they're hacks.

They will push back because they are young and DAF.

Eventually they grow out of it, you hope. I had some people I know follow Rush for year even after he was proven to be a fraud.

BTW... lol

What the frick? I’m a women and I listen to Joe Rogan all the time. He comes across as a moderate to me. I’m massively confused about all the hate he’s getting here.

Are you serious about your husband and Joe Rogan? Have you spent any actual time listening to his podcasts and guests? And by serious time I mean beyond who the guest is? As in the entirety of a 3 hour podcast with said guests? I doubt it. It you’re an intelligent person you can glean a lot from them and the guests. You need to use your brain, take in the information and form your own opinion but if you think he’s some type of villain then you’re not paying attention. Maybe engage your husband in what he’s learning/hearing. If I had to venture a guess I’d say maybe your husband questioned the covid vaccine (maybe even for your kids given this is a mom forum). During the pandemic he had guests on from both sides of the debate. But what you didn’t have was censorship and shutting down of information- which is why the left hates him. It’s not that he’s on the right or pushing an agenda it’s that he believes the only way to push through as a country is open dialogue. You won’t see that length of discussion anywhere in mainstream media. Maybe talk with your husband about what it is about Rogan that he finds appealing or refreshing from other sources of information? You might be surprised to find a lot of left leaning people have also gravitated toward his platform.

Lord, I am so tired of people claiming that caring about facts somehow makes me close-minded.

I hear you. But facts come in all shapes and sizes and from a wide range of sources. Is there a fact or topic you think he’s been disingenuous about in particular?

"facts come in all shapes and sizes" -- What does that even mean?

And let's not call someone who uses the n-word "disingenuous." Let's not act like someone who panders to the anti-vax crowd is just encouraging open discussion. If you're not qualified to speak on something, admit it and then don't talk about it.

Sometimes the devil doesn't need an advocate. If you believe rape and murder is wrong you don't need rapist and murders to advocate why it's good just so you can check a box that you're fair and balanced

OP, I noticed you said you are at your wits end with your son.

Question, what does his father think about it?

Last year I read "Men Who Hate Women: From incels to pickup artists, the truth about extreme misogyny and how it affects us all" by Laura Bates. It takes a look at online incel culture, how those attitudes infect the broader culture, and how those things relate to a lot of the social dysfunction we see today.

As a general starting point, I think we have to give our sons (and young men generally) the message that being a man isn't a bad thing and there are aspects of masculinity that are truly admirable. When pushing back against those aspects of masculinity that are toxic, I think too many people paint with too broad a brush in a way that is alienating, particularly to young men.

A big problem with that alienation is that grifters and indoctrinators have no problem capitalizing on the alienation, embracing young men and providing them with a welcoming group of like-minded individuals.

Aside from not treating men as the enemy, I think it's useful to expose the grift, highlight cult techniques a lot of these groups use, and point out that embracing a culture of grievance is not a path to happiness over the long term. Aggrieved people are usually angry and miserable.

Nothing to see here, as these crooks existed in various forms for centuries. Amway. Herbalife. Agel. MonaVie. An endless list.
A few years ago MonaVie distributors sued the parent company for fraud. Discovery forced the release of the MonaVie complete distributors’ list, income, etc.
MonaVie at its peak enrolled 71,000 distributors. Only 300 earned more than $3000 a month, and only 15 people earned more than $9000 a month. Over 98% of the distributors earned zero, with an average loss of $200 a month.

If I knew how to ‘run a side hustle earning 7 figures a month!’ or ‘earn passive income of $15,000 a day through your Amazon affiliate page!’ why would I tell you?
