Are they really coopting it if you’re the only one who thinks that? Or are you in effect coopting it for them?

And reveling in your ignorance is a real hallmark of your classical education? Wouldn’t the right response be “wow if that’s true that would really suck and maybe I should look into it and determine if this is an issue”. Instead you just dismiss it. Clearly if it was true you don’t really care.

What’s true? What exactly are you trying to claim? Because Milo blathered something about Gibbon, we all have to cancel the term “classical education”?

I’m not the PP. I just think it’s amusing that it doesn’t seem to bother you in the least that “Milo” and his goons could have co-opted the phrase. You don’t even want to bother examining it, which is supposedly a hallmark of the education you claim to favor. It suggests that even it was true it doesn’t make you that uncomfortable to be associated with it.

You are trying too hard. The word "fetch" comes to mind.

You’re not trying hard enough. Ask the tiki torch people how it’s going.

I have no idea who the "tiki torch people" are.

Why am I not surprised.

The real definition is stronger and they actually can't have it.

Ok - well then you’re a real shining example to us all of the value of living an unexamined life.

NP. You're nuts. Highly doubt the families at Westminster or Emmanuel Lutheran are neo-Nazis. The phrase "classical education" existed long before Milo, it will exist long after Milo, and he has no claim on it.

And you’re all such wonderful examples of the value of questioning long held assumptions as preached by your educational model. That’s fine, but you could avoid all these problems by using the other term for this type of education: a liberal arts education.

You don't even understand that a classical education is different from a liberal arts education. Tip: a classical education involves learning Latin and reading Ovid etc. We should listen to you, why?

I can see that you’re triggered by the term “liberal arts”. You realize your definition of a classical education and distinction between the two is complete bunk?

Back to the original question - both Westminster and Immanuel are great choices. Westminster is an independent school - and obviously Immanuel is religious. I am very familiar with both schools (no neo-Nazis), and I would suggest touring to get a better idea of each. Good luck!

I reject the premise that they “co-opted the phrase.” Even if they talk about classical education, it’s only “coopting” if you give Milo disproportionate attention and importance. I have no idea what that guy is doing, nor do 99.999% of other people.

“classical education” and “liberal arts education” are not the same thing. Stop trying to cancel the word “classical.” You sound ridiculous.

My friend - your Classical Christian education is based on a classical education that is described as:

The classical education movement includes a growing number of organizations taking renewed inspiration from a traditional and historic liberal arts education and that focuses human formation and learning on the liberal arts (including the natural sciences) as well as canons of classical literature, the fine arts, and the history of civilization.

You realize that “liberal” in this context has no political implications.

The classical education you seem to want is actually much closer to the Christian nationalist vision of education so it’s no wonder being associated with that movement doesn’t faze you.

What classical education do you think I want? Is your agenda actually to attack the classical curriculum?

Please spend your energy elsewhere. Your absurdities may have had some traction in 2020 but not now.

Yes, it’s typically Christian schools that have this curriculum. are you equating Christian with white supremacy?

Look, I would not send my kid to a Christian Classical School because we are Jewish and wouldn’t fit culturally. But as an educational model it seems like a solid option that could provide a great education. I do wish there were secular options.

When did the discussion turn from a classical education model to a classical christian education model? There are plenty of schools with a classical education model, some of them religious, that do not follow the Classical-
Christian model in that wiki, which seems to be a more recent thing.

What do they teach in England and Canada? We want that maths, literature, history, science curricula for our children.

You want something but you don’t know what it is?

"Christian values"

Given what is going on in this country I doubt very much most of those schools have "Christian values".

I’m sorry you think Gender Queer and Lawn Boy are classics.
