Honestly, it just seems like regular old-school jealously on Perry's part. Keanu Reeves is still hot as hell and genuinely universally liked. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a personal back story like Perry was up for a role that went to Reeves.

Like much of America he has struggled with addiction. Hopefully his book will help an addict, someone struggling with recovery, and an addicts family.

FWIW according to this article, River Phoenix became addicted to heroin during the filming of “My Own Private Idaho” with Keanu Reeves.

To immerse himself further in the role, River started experimenting with hard drugs. He was friendly with Matt Ebert, a former street kid who acted as a production assistant on both Dogfight and My Own Private Idaho. Before they did heroin together for the first time, River assured Ebert that he had done it before. “I remember thinking, ‘He’s lying,'” Ebert said. According to Ebert, there was “rampant heroin use” going on among the cast and crew of Idaho. “He would come up to visit me, and we would do drugs together,” Ebert said of River. “Let me tell you, it did not take him long to go from, you know, a casual user to having an intense drug problem.”

Maybe Matthew Perry blames Reeves for this in some way, though there is no evidence that Reeves himself did hard drugs.

He's only been sober for 18 months, which explains SO MUCH.

He has not done nearly enough work, and doesn't have nearly enough perspective, to be writing a book at this point. Blaming Reeves for Phoenix's death (if that's what is going on) is just more proof that Perry hasn't done the work. Addiction is an illness, and is no one's fault. But getting treatment for that illness, and taking the steps necessary to treat the illness, is entirely the responsibility of the person abusing drugs. The fact that Perry is blaming anyone but River Phoenix and Heath Ledger for their own choices is part and parcel of being a teeny tiny recovery baby who has not done nearly enough introspection to be speaking in public.

Reeves is likable, but he was notorious for being a bad actor earlier in his career. How anyone has forgotten this even though he's still a terrible actor, I'll never know. And now that he's done some "work" to his eyes, he just looks freaky. I don't like Perry, but I also hated the show Friends and think there's some evil conspiracy that brought it back to popularity. It's just so very bad.
