True story. Those pit bulls took away precious and innocent lives. Why or where is not important. The breed needs to die.

+1. There are no details that will change the story. and any reasonable person can admit that pit bulls are not safe.

And what details could possibly make dogs literally ripping a baby in half acceptable? Oh the little girl shouted or threw a ball? She deserved to die for that?

I'm so.sick of pit apogists. I know from personal experience these dogs are.more aggressive and rougher than other dogs. The stats show they make up korenthan half of fatalities, despite being a minority of dogs.

Blaming kids normal actions is ridiculous. At one time I believed the propaganda about Pit Bulls but after seeing all the random attacks
I support criminalizing breeding them and support mandatory spay or neuter, euthanizing any brought to a shelter for rescue that display ANY aggresive behavior even nipping or lunging, and support massive insurance riders needed to keep them in a home and a ban on renters from having them.
In DC and PG county, they should be removed from all owners and tested for aggressiveness and either euthanized or rehomed . Many of those dogs are abused to begin with and either of those actions is the more humane thing to do.

Let's accept the argument that maybe the kid pulled then dog's tail. Kids do stuff all the time. At worst dogs snap, most just sit there. These dogs ripped apart 2 children and their mom.

What detail can possibly make that acceptable?

I’m not victim blaming a 2yo and a baby but if the baby rolled on a dog, or pulled it’s tail, or the 2yo poked one with a stick or something, dogs will react. Two dogs together get the pack mentality and all hell breaks loose. This could happen with any breed. Pitt bills happen to be large strong dogs..

And this right here is the problem. People like this poster should be banned from owning dogs. “I’m not victim blaming,” then you proceed to blame a 5 month old and 2 year old for being mauled to death by dogs that any reasonable person can admit should not be around children.

Seriously, PP, you are sick.

That’s not what the poster is saying. Children can absolutely trigger pets into aggression. That’s why it’s irresponsible to have them around these large, aggressive breeds.

It’s just irresponsible to have this breed around humans. You don’t have to scratch hard the surface of tiktok to find videos of pit bulls, by their owners, of them out and around, unleashed and wearing their “emotional service animal” vest from Amazon, starting trouble at dog parks because they’re not normal dogs. They were bred for carnage.

That’s why these pit bull threads are stupid.

Someone: Oh, my gosh, how sad!! I wonder what the details are?

Someone else: OMG, YOU ARE SICK!!! ALL PITBULLS NEED TO BE KILLED!!!

For the record, I think pit bulls should be regulated because there are too many idiot owners. But, some people in this thread are beyond any reasonable discussion.

Yeah absolutely not true. Both of my dogs (herding breeds — one a sheltie, one a border collie) snapped at or bit my children once
or twice when they were toddlers and did something to upset the dog like startling it while sleeping. The worst injury incurred from these warning bites was a scratch on the face. That’s it. I never had to worry about my kids dying.

You're an idiot to keep those dogs with children. You should have worried about your kids dying, and the fact they didn't is just luck.

Anyone who keeps a dog who has bitten a child, and continues to let them live with children, should be reported to CPS.

These parents will live with the consequences forever as it is. There is nothing worse.

Not enough for me. This was no freak accident. This was criminal negligence that resulted in the death of two children. I don’t think prison time should be out of the question in these situations.

+ 1 million. I'm tired of hearing these stories. It is just as often someone ELSE'S kids, too. It is a mission of mine to get these things banned. There is no logical reason for them to exist and anyone that disagrees is a frigging idiot.

Agreed. Criminal negligence. Parents should be charged in the same way a parent should be charged when child dies due to unsecured firearm. When you start prosecuting, people will take precautions

F these parents. This was 100% preventable and totally on them

+1. I also find it quite ironic to read the father's posts about the dogs and how no one will ever take them away from him (from approx. 2 years ago) and to know that he was the one that was uninjured while his children were literally torn apart and killed, and his wife is in critical condition from trying to save them from these piece of crap dogs he loves. I am so angry. I've been reading a forum about these dogs and their devastation and I'm just seething. It's unconscionable that innocent children are often the victims. What a piece of crap the father is and his children paid the price for that.

Both parents need to be in jail.

I agree we need a ban, but it would need to be enforced. There is a ban in PG County and you’d never know it walking around.

All those sweet “Lab mixes”.

The only reasonable action is to prevent people from owning these violent aggressive dogs.

The thing about it is that as parents we can't choose. People have these horrible.dogs, and then let them run around parks off leash or bring them to the store. When my husband was a kid, a pitbull got into their farm and murdered the barn cats, some chickens, and his sister's pet bunny.

That's why these dogs need to be banned. We don't want our kids around these aggressive and violent dogs.

Well the mother may die from her injuries. Also it sounds like she didn’t want the dogs and her husband refused to get rid of them. I know it might be easy to say “well she should have taken her kids and left then” but (1) this guy sounds like an a$$hole and often that personality profile is abusive, and (2) she may not have had the financial means or family support to leave.

It’s clear the dad was the one who is most culpable.
