It was really nothing like I’ve ever seen before. GHS players were sent into the school and under lock down for over an hour.

The secondary fight outside the gate occurred when NW fans were leaving and started things up again.

Germantown is the Baltimore of Montgomery County. We've put in place elected officials who are dragging this County down instead of up. Crime is through the roof and no one doing anything about it. Germantown specifically is full of drugs and thugs.

And football culture is brutal.

Poor people have to live somewhere. Where are they going to go? There is a trailer park in Germantown. FYI.

And Montgomery County is importing and welcoming more and more poor people. That’s fine, but eventually, the county hits a tipping point where there are not enough wealthy and middle class families to support the imported poverty.

Northwest has an Instagram account- run by the school- that shows a picture of the scoreboard with northwest 14, Gaithersburg 0 and mentions the game was called for fighting but NW won. And their Twitter account tweeted the same picture of the scoreboard.

Total lack of class.

They didn’t win. They were disqualified from winning.

If mcps wants to get serious about having a culture of respect in athletics they should give refs incentives for making sure the trash talk stops the first time. I guarantee that fight didn't just break out for no reason. The players were probably antagonizing each other verbally with physical fouls all game. They should make sure anyone caught in unsportsmanlike behavior is benched the next game and the whole season if it's serious enough. Watch if anyone in that fight is out more than 1 game. I doubt it.
I've also been at football games where the parents are trash talking players. Those parents should be ejected and banned no questions asked. Student sections are out of control throwing things and screaming obscenities. It's a perfect atmosphere for brawls which is why the police are there.

Don’t blame the refs. The refs need MCPS to support them. Heck, MCPS allows students to basically abuse teachers IN the classroom. Students, athletes and coaches are allowed to get away with terrible behavior.

This isn’t something the refs can fix on their own. MCPS needs to come down hard to unsportsmanlike behavior. Agree, ejected and banned, no questions asked.

Indeed. Refs can't hear kids yapping at each other on the line. They're not enforcement officers in fights. Expecting such is why we have fewer and fewer refs in kids' sports.

Well that and overbearing, berating, noxious parents.

Throw the parents out too. Alot of those sideline dads are like dance moms. They're trying to relive their own youth sports through their kids. I've been at enough games to hear them yelling at the refs, yelling at their own kids, yelling at opposing side players and taunting each other after the games. Grow up!

Who cares

Being that NW has caused fights at other schools, apparently not MCPS. SV and NW are notorious for fights at weapons at games. I’m pretty sure that’s how the game ended last season

Thanks for reminding me why we moved our kids from MCPS to private.

Don't throw it all on NW. There's a video on Twitter showing Gaithersburg staff member in a blue shirt putting their hands on NWs coach.

They should all have their season ended immediately.

I would rather they simply end the season for those involved. They have video evidence. Anyone who participated should be gone for the rest of the season.
