This is a sincere question: will you explain why? I don’t see one redeeming quality in Reimer and am interested in hearing what a Reimer voter sees in him.

Because I don't trust Blair; he is not a traditional Democrat. Blair is a developer backed candidate and I am wary of his intentions. Elrich is Elrich, I have never been a fan of his.

I’ve got news for you. Hans Riemer loooooooves developers. He wrote the bill to give them tax breaks for 15 years for building more density. Riemer is probably worse on development than Blair. Elrich is the only moderate when it comes to developers and development.

Elrich isn’t a moderate on development. He’s anti development. That’s not moderate.

And Riemer is also not a moderate, but in the other direction. Elrich hates developers making profit and Riemer loves helping developers make a profit, even at the expense of the county and economic development.

I’m voting for Blair.

Both Marc and Hans hate police and want to do things like shift traffic enforcement to civilians. They supported a state bill that would do that, AND make it so a police officer doesn't have to review and sign off on automated traffic tickets. That means a civilian is signing off and more likely to be influenced by political pressure from above/politicians.

They wanted SROs out of schools. They don't even try to get to know the department (the employees) and it's so weird. Elrich especially is their BOSS. I've never seen a boss just throw a whole segment of his employees out the window. It's like they aren't even part of county government.

Why does this matter? Because no sane person wants to be a police officer in this jurisdiction anymore, when right next door in Howard County, the County Executive pays police better and regularly visits and supports police on social media.

And as much as some of you may hate police, the absence of police allows violent crime to seep in. We need political leadership throughout the county that supports good policing and holds bad policing accountable. They are all about going after bad police work (which they should). But they never, ever praise the department for good police work.

Blair. I wasn’t a fan of Reimer’s before, but his constant social media attacks have not impressed me. He seems to revel in insulting others, especially his competitors. He’s the only one running such a negative campaign.

I also don’t like his treatment of MCPD. I think it shows how duplicitous he is. He was on the attack against MCPD for years. Now that he’s running for county exec, he has found some new love for them… but only for management. I’m under the impression this is only to show some facade of support for the department during the election cycle while still allowing him to vilify officers.

Op here and I think it needs to drop out otherwise we’re going to end up splitting the vote again. He had no chance and should recognize that sooner rather than later.

I don't think he can drop out because he's getting public financing.

You can’t drop out if you have public financing???

They have to pay back all the public financing with interest. If he has that in his account still, then fine. But if he's spent it, he's SOL.

I didn’t know that! Well, that explains it and settles that he most likely won’t drop out. Great. Another split vote.

This. Big flaw in the system.

I'm a County employee voting for Blair. I've seen the other two up close and personal in action, and I'll take my chances with Blair.

I'm not a moderate, but if I was, Blair would really be the only choice. Neither Marc nor Hans is moderate at all.

In my opinion, the biggest problem we have right now is the eroding business tax base. Businesses mean jobs and money for schools, roads, parks, social programs, police, etc. MoCo is dead last in the region for creating and sustaining white collar jobs, which is an enormous hit to our budget. Both Marc and Hans have contributed heavily to this situation. Something has to change, and Blair seems to get that. At least I figure there's a chance of improvement with Blair. I know things don't get better with the other two.

I agree — I wish the progressives would wake up and see we can’t support all the great programs we have or want without significantly increasing tax revenues. Now, I have seen people sitting in the Council hearing room with signs saying “increase taxes.” But that can’t possibly be the view of anyone here but those crackpots. At least I hope not.

Isn't Blair a no brainer for everyone but a small sliver of the population.

If he wasn't an incumbent this would be a landslide.

To independent friends, you can switch party registration up through Tuesday, June 28th. Register democrat and vote for blair. Then switch back.

Elrich. He's done a better job that I expected.

NP but since he’s the incumbent, the burden is on you to say everything that he has done so badly that it warrants him to be removed from office.

Curious if Elrich voters last time are switching now to Blair.

Doubtful, but I do know several Blair voters from last time who are switching to Elrich. In fact I know a former staunch Floreen supporter who is now campaigning for Elrich.
