CU Boulder

Congratulations! My alma mater...loved CU and had an amazing experience. Our DD was accepted, but (sadly) chose another school closer to home. You will love Boulder!

Case typically has a large waitlist. Some years it really moves and they really need it to fill the class. Take 2020/21: there were 1304 Freshman, and 1076 of those were from the Wait List! Yes---82.5% of the class of 2024 came from the WAITLIST!

Other years they take 0 or less than 20.

Case definately has a difficult time predicting yield. IMO there are several factors affecting this: First, Cleveland isn't the most exciting place so location works against it for many (many would rather be in California or NE/Boston area); 2nd being just below the top tier means that many, many of their admits/accepted students also wanted to go to Ivy, MIT/Stanford/CMU/T25 schools (Case is a "t20/Ivy reject" school) So it's very hard to predict how many will get accepted elsewhere or not each year and if they can afford wherever else they were admitted. ****I state this as someone whose DC ended up picking between Case and another slightly higher ranked school that has similar problems (location that can make Cleveland seem downright amazing and a class full of students/applicants many of whom applied to and wanted to attend Ivy/MIT/CMU/Stanford/T25 schools and have the stats on paper to earn their lottery ticket to the admissions game. DC will not be attending Case, but it was a good school, just not the best fit for them.

Her stats are way higher than CW's averages, yet they put her on the waitlist. I suspect it's because she didn't visit the school. She was hoping to get accepted before visiting. She's already accepted UVA, but still would go to Case if they accepted her. This waitlist thing is strange.

If you’re a VA resident sticking with UVA is a no brainer.

Why is it a no brainer? Cost isn't everything.

I guess it depends what your DC is looking for - if their criteria is small school and STEM focus, then Case is great! If your DC is unsure what they want to do, then I tend to think a larger school allows for more options down the road.

This^^^ And case typically still gives merit to students taken off the WaitList. Case is very generous with Merit

DC was admitted off of the waitlist for the University of Chicago.

Not if you prefer other schools and can afford them.

It seems this year they have eliminated a large portion of the list but are still keeping some students on, with the possibility of a spring admit. DC got an email today explaining that they're still interested in DC if a spot opens up, which they claim they might not know for a couple of weeks. We'll see.

How were you informed? Are they finished their WL? My DC is on UChicago's WL and we did not hear anything .

Trying to decide whether to try to visit the school (has never seen it) and if it is worth switching. This is making the process even harder than it was originally. Feeling overwhelmed and my kid is too.

What school?

Congrats. We know of a few who got off UChicago waitlist, but were asked to take a gap year.

According to college confidential, Notre Dame pulled a few off the waitlist and sent letters to others saying they were not going to be selected. My DD wasn't notified of either, so we're on pins and needles. Anyone else hear about ND?

We are in the same boat. Have heard nothing.
