Say what now? That is exactly what has been said and suggested in this thread. |
| If Putin uses any type of CBRN weapon in Ukraine, strikes a NATO country, or if China gets involved- the US will have no choice but to intervene. We can’t let Putin bully the world. We either take him out through war or take him out secretly. It’s the only way to stop the long term threat. |
+1. The top Pp appears to be ignorant if the geography of Europe and Russia, and Putin’s long history of making external war to cement his internal grip on power. Ukraine will continue a long term insurgency even if Putin physically takes control of Ukraine and flattens cities. He will be humiliated as Lukashenko was in Belarus by the resistance of the opposition. And that will make Russia very unstable, because they will see partisans resisting autocratic control in Ukraine and Belarus and that resistance will spread into Russia. The only way Putin has to this instability is to continue to make war externally to justify tightening repression. Putin has said in a number of speeches that Poland and other former Warsaw Pact countries should be returned to Russia. Not only is he saying this but also his strategists and diplomats describe this. Only yesterday the Russian Ambassador threatened Bosnia with the same as Ukraine should Bosnia join NATO. |

The US has no wish to directly confront Russia. If that happened, all bets are off. It could very easily go nuclear. The Cold War hawk mentality is alive and well in the Pentagon. Russia has the toys, too.
Zelensky is grandstanding to garner popular opinion. He's become a social media star. He is milking it for all it's worth. If he was as smart as he presents himself to be, which he is not, he would concede the small part of Ukraine to Russia that Putin wants, namely Donetsk and Luhansk, settle for the greater remainder, and put in writing Ukraine that remains militarily neutral. Everyone goes home happy, or at least, merely name-calling. The longer Zelensky grandstands and postpones, the worse it becomes. He is expendable. |
| "put in writing that Ukraine remains neutral" |
But Russia wants Crimea, too. And I bet it wants some control over Kiev, and maybe even the whole south and East of the country. The western part is poor and not too educated and is worthless without the rest. |

[/quote] You are ignorant of basic facts on the matter. Ukraine had its neutrality “in writing ”, it was written in its CONSTITUTION, and that did not stop Russia from invading. Putin does not just want Donetsk and then he’ll call it a day. I understand you want to go back to regularly scheduled programming and your comfortable world, but that world is an illusion, it’s sustained by dozen buffer states like Ukraine. |

Russia has Crimea. Why is Russia not allowed to control the Black Sea? As you say, it is a resource. Why is it that the U.S. must hold a monopoly in the world to wage war when it wants resources?
Ask yourselves that, I suggest. Is it ok that Russia invaded Ukraine? No. But I can see why Putin did it. He and much of the non-Western world are aware of the insane power imbalance and the monopoly that the U.S. has on grabbing any resources around the world without any repreccusions for their actions. His goal seems clear to me, to make resources for Russia and undermine the brutal rule that the U.S. has established around the world that prevents his country from becoming economically better positioned. Sadly, Ukraine and its people are paying for the power grab of Putin's, just as many have suffered when other Empires did the same. Just the fact that people here think the U.S. must do something shows that the U.S. is aware that its position as the dominant Empire is in danger and must do something about it shows that Putin is right. The U.S. rules the world with its military and political, and economic power and leaves scraps for the rest. |
| Which countries would side with Russia following an attack on Poland? |
Germany? And why would Russia attack Ukraine? Bcs Poles are sending planes? |
