| I think this is in the wrong forum. Should be in fashion or maybe relationships. |
Start with eBay, FB marketplace or Bob's watch |
| Get him an Omega Speedmaster. Apollo astronauts wore them on the Moon, which says something about their quality. Besides, they look a lot cooler than a Rolex. |
I was thinking about getting an Omega. From a fashion standpoint, who gets a Rolex vs an Omega? Does one keep time better? |
Your dad is old AF. |
Don’t post here if you don’t want to be judged. |
| Do it you old fart but nobody buys Rolexes |
The watch awarded to the lowest bidder meeting the requirements. |
It seems crazy expensive to me but, you seem to have the money and he wants it. My question what happens when he gets you a lame gift for you? Is he a good gift giver? |
| I received one for my wedding gift in 1991, a submariner. I wore it for about a year and then my company issued me a “skypaager” which I had to carry 7x24. Fast forward 30 years to two way pagers, blackberry, and now the smartphone which my company requires me to still wear 7x24. I would still wear my Rolex otherwise. The Rolex sits in the deposit box likely worth about $20k today - never had it serviced or appraised. |
DH’S sits in a drawer 365 days a year right next my my Cartier Tank Francios. If your DH will wear it, go for it. |
Maybe but who cares. Nobody wears a watch to keep time anymore. You phone will keep the time for you. A luxury watch is like a piece of jewelry on your wrist. |
| A good luxury watch is also an investment. Like fine art, their value increases over time. |
Lol! Like art .... yes, good comparison.... |
| If you get one try to get a limited edition. The more rare the better. They hold their value due to being collectable. The average buyer of a Rolex has an income of $120k. I see them as a marker of upper middle class “you made it” . |
