And other members commit all kinds of other sins.
James 2:10 = If you commit one, you commit them all. I would add that the prohibition against homosexuality didn't even make it into the 10 Commandments. But lying, swearing, saying untrue things about neighbors, or coveting their stuff is in 10 Commandments. Exodus 20. Ye without sin cast the first stone. John 8:7. So, that said, I'd keep going to church. |
| PP is correct. I would respect DC and their decisions and lifestyle. I don’t need to change mine to accommodate theirs. Would never ask or expect them to come with me. |
It actually is in the 10 commandments. One of them is basically don't have sex outside marriage or want to. |
I really don't know anyone who says that their church needs to accept their lifestyle that includes lying, swearing, and jealousy. It's one thing to sin, admit your fault, and ask for forgiveness. It's another to sin, then say that the church is wrong and that whatever you are doing isn't a sin. If you are going to do that, then you are going to find that there is some disagreement. |
I must have a different version of the bible. eviticus 18:22 and Leviticus 20:13 The Book of Leviticus in the Old Testament has two references condemning homosexuality: "Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable" (Leviticus 18:22) and "If a man lies with a man as one lies with woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads" (Leviticus 20:13). There's more in there. |
| What brand of church is gay friendly? |
|
Most people go to church because they think they should, not because they actually believe any of it.
|
If you are funding an organization that is against your kid, you are going against your kid also. You can't say 'our church condemns you' but we are not on their side of the fence, except on Sundays. |
That is stupidity. It's like taking medicine that you don't believe works, but you take it anyway. Engage your brain people! |
I think the point is while it is a sin the Bible doesn't say it is a sin that will prevent you from entering heaven. Our church teaches to hate the sin and love the sinner. All have fallen short. Some think visible sins are worse, but the unwed couple who ended up pregnant didn't do anything worse than the unwed couple who did. Some see a pregnant single woman and judge her. In our faith we don't judge. We leave the decision of who goes to heaven up to the Lord and teach His word and love one another. |
Sincere request - could you provide your translation? (Or whomever's...) I'm a Christian parent of a gay daughter and struggle with my faith over this all the time. Thank you. |
| Regardless of what the bible says about homosexuality many churches call it a sin and a perversion. The churches NOT the bible consider it a sin. So how can you side up with a church doctrine that isn't based in anything but hate and ignorance? |
Same way their grandparents did when the church called interracial marriage a sin, and their great grandparents when their church used the gospel to oppose giving women the right to vote, and their great great grandparents, when their church cited the Bible to justify slavery. Makes them feel superior. Same with the "hate the sin/love the sinner" folks. You always seem to focus on the sins you yourself aren't committing every. single. day. |
I think the answer is to stop listening to church people who tell you how to think. Churches are just man made social clubs they haven't got any more information on God than you or I. |
Because God is also man-made. |
